As I have mentioned in some of the other threads, I will be soon in the market for buying a new TV. Panny it will be and still deciding between 60" or 65". if 60, I will go with GT30. If 65" I definitely like the VT30 model. Considering my wallet size and desire to get VT30 and wait if needed...
In the next few months, I will have to replace my 55" Sony RPTV with a new one. How much ever I love the PQ that gets reproduced it is starting to show it's age and maintenance is getting expensive. I am pretty much zeroed on Panasonic Plasma. I am leaning towards VT30 read great reviews, but I...
I got this mygiCA from Amazon. Turns out to be crappy product, or I don;t know to use it. Crappy documentation on that. I am going to return it. I connected my cable to ANT IN, then using DVI to DVI I connected my TV. I went into their menu->channel->antenna and chose cable (instead of...
OK, this is what I did so far. I did take a split on the homerun. one goes to cable modem and the other goes to another splitter/amplifier which sends signal to my computer and the other to my TWC HD DVR. Cable works fine, internet works fine, Vista MC is not fine. I connected to the...
This is very helpful Matt and Joe. I will play around and check tonight. I have Vista and roadrunner, so I am guessing MC should work in that as well. I don't have a cable run to the tuner, however have a wired Ethernet. I hope I can still get the "basic" (70+ ) channels or is there anything...
Here's my dilemma. I have been a TWC cusomter for over couple of decades now. You can imagine how much I must have paid them thus far. :) Increasing cost is killing me! I decided to pull the plug and go with SAT with one of their promo deals. Though it may help in the short-run, again in...
I have almost a similar set up. Except instead of Laptop, I use my desktop. I run a HDMI to DVI, and from audio out on my desktop to RCA on my Sony RPTV. Works great! I even send audio out to my AVR and listen from my speakers. I have a similar cable to what you have posted and I bought...
Thanks Greg, I will call a local repair guy. I hope he does a good job. If anyone know of a good repair technician in the Raleigh-Durham area that will be great. After fixing this, I would like to get it calibrated as well. I think I can extract a lot of juice from this TV. I always...
My lovely 57" Sony RPTV (7 years old) is throwing some convergence issue. For the last week or so I see blue separated by at least 1/2 to 1 inch. I can see that clearly when there is a white text (appears as blue and yellow). First I did auto flash and then entered into manual convergence...
Great suggestions from all. Thanks a ton! Alon, I have a HK 7200 hooked on to sweet sounding B&W 604 series. I have a 8 year old Sony DVD player which is starting to show sign of old age. I am thinking of upgrading to a Blu-Ray and a CD player. Marantz was one of them I was...
Anyone still uses a separate CD Player ? If yes, what are the advantages and what features should I look for if I have to buy one. apart from price and space, what are the tradeoffs in buying the integrated DVD/CD player. If you can recommend a few that would be even better Thanks Kumar.
Talking out a friend of buying a 500 bucks CD player advertised in nice catalogs like H&S, S Image, etc. He lives in an apartment and mainly need a good speakers to play his Sony CD Player. (Today he uses computer speakers to listen to it). My suggestion was to purchase a HTIB or just a Stereo...
Yes the box has Coaxial. I have to try if it would do both HDMI and Coaxial at the same time. Let me check this. Meanwhile, anyone has this combination of AVR and Speaker? how do they sound together?
I am helping a friend to purchase his first HT Components. He is looking at Onkyo 674 and Polk audio 6880. He would, to begin with, be connecting the Cable/Sat to AVR in HDMI, AVR to TV in HDMI, DVD to AVR in Component, VCR to AVR in S-Video. Here are my questions. Based on the above...
Eric, that was encouraging piece of info. I tried searching the forum for the problem you have reported. I couldn't find it. If you have a link could you paste it here or explain what the problem you went through with your TV. Thanks
anyone experienced an exchange using BB's extended warranty. I have a CRT RPTV Sony 57" model. It would be three years endof this year. I purchased an extended warranty from BB when I bought it. I have called them thrice in the last one year, to fix a blue bleeding problem. Once they had...
I have a Dish 500 that I am not using. Some of the programs that directv offers interests me. Is there way that I can point the Dish500 to the directv bird and use a directv receiver and call for programming? Would that work? I tried searching this forum for an answer and could not find any...
Can Rainbow effect be minimized with proper calibration? Because what I read in many forums is, not many people have spotted it. However considering myself an average joe, first time I saw a Tosh DLP I spotted it. A friend of mine spotted it on a Samsung on the showroom. Now both these are...
I have had similar issues except for me it was blue lines. but as micahel said, it needs adjustment. I was on extended warranty(Iam still no) when my Sony had this issue. The guy replaced the blue and readjusted the levels and its working fine. Since I am still on warranty once in a while I...
Hey Paul, I got a broken image on the pic above so not sure how it looks. I have a KP57WS510 ( a three year old now). I had some blue problem where the white bleads into blue etc. Luckily I had taken an extended warranty on my TV when I bought it in local BB. The engineer came and looked...
mmmmm..... Homey! I think we can buy a LCD TV and put our speakers close to the TV and free up some space in the living room! just kidding! Thanks Peter.
Scott, I have the same B&Ws fronts and Center with my Sony 57" RPTV. I did notice that your B&Ws are right next to the TV. What I read from the specs, fronts are not magnetically Sheilded. Is LCD TVs free of gauze effect due to unsheilded speakers? Kumar.
Robert Thanks for your feedback..... I have a Dish 500 for international programming for now. I may be discontinuing it for a while to watch Cricket which is shown in DirecTv. I have the liberty to repoint the Dish to 110, 119. Will something like this work...
Tried to find a direct answer (Yes or NO) in many places but couldnt find a clear cut answer. Here I am with my (crazy?) idea. I have a dishnetwork dish for international programming. Can I (after pointing in the right direction) watch direct tv programming using this dish? Borrowing a direct...
Long time no update! Ok this is what happend. The BB guy came two fridays ago. He opened the panels and start meddling with the controls for the three guns for few minutes and boom the red curves are gone. Then he made some more adjustments and the picutre looked even better. Then he...
