Dave, thanks for the heads up on that test DVD! I just ordered it, and should have a fun time once that comes in. I should be in all day testing out every possible setting there is.

Toshiba SD-7990 DVD Player or other 1080p upconvert.

Yeah, i saw the OPPO 891, and actually ordered it. Now i'm regretting it, because of my DLP Samsung TV, and I'm afraid of the macroblocking issues. I would be out 35 bucks shipping if I wait and see, so maybe I should just wait and see.

Toshiba SD-7990 DVD Player or other 1080p upconvert.

Can anyone comment on this? It seems inexpensive, yet upconverts to 1080p. Are there any other recommendations for a 1080p upconvert DVD player?

    1080p DVD Player Question

I just bought a 61 inch samsung 1080p. I am using a panny rp82 for my DVD watching. It has a max output of 480p. If I use 480p or 480i, my TV automatically displays 1080p anyways, so does it matter if I select 480p on the DVD player? I turned it off, and for some reason, DVD's look a little...

Will I notice a diff between s-video vs hdmi on my 1080p DLP?

Change your picture setting to movie mode. This made a huge improvement in my SD. It even made my HD better to watch.

Need Help Tweaking My Samsung 61" DLP (HL-S6187W)

I just bought this bad boy as well. Haven't had much time to play with it, but movie mode is a must setting so far. SD looks okay, not much of an improvement over my 54 inch sammy I replaced. My only question is, what sort of upconvert DVD player would pair nicely with this set?

    Repair or replace?

My Samsung PCL5415 has started doing the same thing. I went into the advanced convergence menu and cleaned it up a bit, but last night I went into make some fine adjustments, and somehow reset everything back to a factory setting that ruined the TV. All the lines were not straight, and I spent...

    New DVD player recommendations

I'm not an expert in HT, but just about everyone including myself has commented on how much better DVD's look on my RP-82 than anything they have seen. I think i'm probably just going to wait until I get a newer TV with HDMI before I upgrade. I will just hold my breath, i nthe hopes that my...

    New DVD player recommendations

Okay, dumb questions. 1. This says that is has a 5.1 audio mix setup. I have 7.1 speakers(currently 6.1, will I still be able to watch DTX ES and stuff like that? 2. I keep seeing everywhere that you have to use DVI to get a higher format than 480i. Is that correct? I would at least want...

    New DVD player recommendations

I'm currently upgrading my HT setup. I currently have a Panny RP82 and it has been pretty good, but is starting to slow down, and is taking a long time to access menu's and stuff like that. The viewing is still good. I'd like something that will be at least equal to that. I spent a couple...

    Component Selector switch

I am looking for a decend component selector switch. I probably only need 2 input connections and one output. I wont use this over 480p frequency so I'm not concerned with having incredible 1080i resolution. I'm looking to spend anywhere from 40-80 bucks on this, cheaper if there is a good one...

"The purpose of the lawsuit is to exact change. And, there is a long history of using the courts for such purposes. The airbag lawsuits of recent years should be an obvious example. If you need more, just ask." The airbag lawsuits were about the safety of the airbags and how the car companies...

Look at it this way, Maybe you should sue yourself. Because you bought a RPTV, and you watched a channel that could possible cause burn in. Your negligent because you watched that channel. You have to understand that you do not own the station. You do not have a say so in what kinds of...

RPTVs Trying to watch dark senes!

Too tell you the truth, I would rather watch a movie that was a little darker in dark scenes. It gives the added realism of being in that situation. I mean, if your out in the woods, you really shouldn't see much.

Best Buy Offering 24 mos, 0% financing

Thats why it's better to go on a payment plan, where the payment is divided by months. Whenever I buy my wife jewelry, thats what I do. That way, I just pay whats due each month. I think with the best buy credit card for my TV, it doesn't split it up in months, but we split it up ourselves. It...

    Panasonic rp62 vs rp82 battle

So the rp82 is using a different playback circuitry than the rp62? I dont use DVD-r's or anything so I'm cool there. I'm just basically wanting to watch movies that I bought at a store. IF there is a difference in picture quality, then I'll go with the 82. I was just wondering if the upgraded...

    Panasonic rp62 vs rp82 battle

Okay you all, I am going to purchase one of these in the next few weeks. I would much rather buy from a brick and mortar store than an online retailer for things over 100 bucks. I want the rp82 just because everyone talks it up. The only places I know of that I can go to get the pany are circuit...

    Tv problems

I'm just throwing this out there, but do you have any speakers close to the TV that are not shielded? What about other electronics. I have a monitor that is very finicky when it comes to stuff like that. I have to keep it at least 3 feet away from any electrical device or speaker.

Okay, well I admit. I haven't really looked at the video game disclaimer, but I will as soon as i get home. I also feel that the blender issue is a common sense issue and there is no grounds for a lawsuit and whoever was defending the blender company did a bad job of it. If a person is a moron...
