    Pioneer VSX-D811S and Xbox

Hi, I have a Pioneer VSX-D811S receiver. I am trying to hook up my Xbox for 5.1 surround sound. I purchased the Xbox high definition connector cable, it has optical digital output and component video output. I would like to hook up the component video to the component2 connector on the...

    Pioneer VSX-D811S Question

Really? Huh, I wouldn't have thought of that, I just have the component cable running from the receiver to the TV. I thought that whatever video source you selected it would output the video signal out through the component cables. I will try that. Any opinion on the Xbox question? :-)...

    Pioneer VSX-D811S Question

Hi, I have a Pioneer VSX-D811S and have some questions. 1. I plugged my VCR into the composite IN connectors. When I use the input select to switch to VCR I get audio but no video. I had the VCR hooked up directly to the TV through it's composite connectors before I got the Pioneer and it...

    Scratching my head...

Dumb question but I felt it needed to be asked... Why does my new receiver's volume level start in the negative numbers on the display? Why not start from zero??? What's the thinking behind that? Thanks, Stan

HOw hard woudl it be to wire a computer into the hometheater system?

If you are looking to play MP3's off your PC on your HT, the best way is to get a Turtle Beach Audiotron found here: http://www.turtlebeach.com/site/prod...roducthome.asp or a Rio Receiver: http://www.sonicblue.com/audio/rio/rio_receiver.asp These products use a network connection from...

    JVC RX-8020VBK A/V receiver

Thanks everyone. I got the Pioneer VSX-D811S, pretty much just giving up the USB port on the JVC but I can get a network interface like the Audiotron by Turtle Beach to hook my network into the sound system. I love the Pioneer, it sounds great but still need to do more sound position...

    Surround speaker height...

Everything I've read says to mount the surround speakers 2-3 feet above the listeners ear level. I figure that to be 6-7 feet off the floor. I don't have walls where I want to put the surround speakers so I have to use stands. My question: All the speaker stands I've seen are at most 4 feet...

    Cabling question

Thanks Vince and everyone, I'm sure I will have more questions when my receiver comes in (ordered it online). I can't wait! :-) I'm very impressed with the forum, I plan on visiting often as things come together in my little home theater.

    Cabling question

Another question... :-) I just noticed that the Cambridge Soundworks MovieWorks 408 speakers I bought are rated at 75 Watts. The Pioneer VSX-D811S a/v receiver puts out 100 Watts/channel. Is that going to be a problem? I appreciate all your help, this is a great resource.

    Cabling question

That brings up another question. The Pioneer VSX-D811S supports Surround Sound EX 6.1. My JVC DVD player only mentions 5.1 surround. If I play a Surround Sound EX DVD in my JVC DVD will the EX information be sent to the receiver through the optical digital TOSlink cable? Also, my Zenith...

    Cabling question

Hi, I currently have a Zenith IQB27FW TV and a JVC XV-701BK DVD. They are connected with component video cables. I am adding a Pioneer VSX-D811S a/v receiver and a set of Cambridge Soundworks MovieWorks 408 5.1 speakers. My question is, for the audio, if I use an optical digital audio...
