I watched the keynote and I think it was Blades of Glory that Jobs rented. If I remember correctly it was in full screen which I found odd considering how they keep promoting the AppleTV with widescreen TVs.
It's the stuff off iTunes that looks like that. I've only downloaded one movie of iTunes and it was noticeably worse than DVD quality. However, films I pull of DVDs (via Handbrake) look just as good as the DVD. I can't really see a difference anyway. TV shows off iTunes aren't DVD quality...
Yeah, the Apple TV is infinitely better than the Airport Express for music. It's nice being able to surf your entire library from the couch. Plus is has the added advantage of being able to instantly select some mood music if the wife wants to .... "discuss the budget" .... as we tell the...
It's been a while since I got my Apple TV so I thought I'd update everyone. I absolutely love it. We download our favorite shows of iTunes. The best part has been movies. I've got almost 200 of them ripped to a 1TB hard drive. Just 300 more to go. It's really made my collection more...
I know I'm late to the thread, but congratulations on the new D50. Now the long journey to new-camera-induced poverty begins. I started with a D70s. I used it extensively along with a Canon Digital Rebel before purchasing. As someone said before, the D70 just felt right. It was a little...
I've never figured it out either. The Library I'm using now started out on a Mac Mini (which was about as slow as the G5 is) and then moved to a Powerbook and then on to the G5. It's never run any faster in any of the steps up. I've considered erasing the entire program and starting over with it...
After playing with it yesterday, I think it's really great. The things I ripped off of DVDs looked very good. Sometimes you could tell it wasn't as good (mainly older movies I did 1-pass encoding on), but for the most part is was almost like having the DVD in the player. I'll trade off a...
That's good to hear. My Apple TV arrives today and I can't wait. I've ripped about 20 movies and a few tv shows into iTunes. I'm waiting to see the quality of downloaded iTunes TV shows before I spend a bunch of money on them. The Fedex guy needs to hurry up.
I use Delicious Library and love it. The only problem is speed. I've only got about 500 movies in there and it is slow. I'm running on a G5 Quad with 3GB of RAM so that shouldn't be a problem. I'm hoping DL 2.0 will fix this problem.
I was a little leary about buying tv shows off iTunes because I like having the HD satellite. Then it occured to me. It's probably been a month-and-a-half since I sat down and actually watched tv. Which basically means I spend $70+ a month for my kids to watch Dora every day. Dora's nice, but...
I tried hard to resist the Apple TV, but I just can't. We are getting rid of our satellite. I put a pencil to it and we can buy and own every show we want to keep up with for far less than we are paying for satelite now. Plus we would actually be able to keep up with the shows. Not having a DVR...
If you haven't already hooked that thing up to the internet, you need to do so right now. I've owned just about every major game system since the NES, but have never had more fun than I've had playing the 360 online. I'd always heard online gaming was fun, but never really dove into it. Now, I...
I ran into the same thing at the Best Buy in Weatherford (30 miles west of Ft. Worth). They only had one copy. I wasn't really planning on buying it as it was coming from Netflix the same day, but I was curious to see how they handeled new HD-DVD releases. I'm assuming they just didn't stock...
I purchased the HD-DVD player for Xbox 360 but am holding off on buying a Blu-Ray player. I do believe that Blu-Ray will eventually win, but I managed to get the 360 add-on for $120. That combined with a Netflix subscription is a shockingly cheap way to jump in to HD. I'll eventually add a...
Finally signed up with my new 360. GT: Chad Wright (shocking, I know). You'd think a guy who is creative for a living could come up with something better.
If you buy an X-box 360 at Hastings, they give you a coupon book. I normally wouldn't care about a coupon book, however it has two coupons in it for 40% off any video game accessory. I promptly ran back inside and asked if the HD-DVD drive would count as an accessory? The guy said it did, so I...
Being a graphic designer, I have always understood part of where Lucas was coming from. When I do a project for someone, I usually give them several choices of the design. One or two of the designs I am usually in love with. The others, not so much. Inevitably, they pick the ones I'm not crazy...
Fox = Star Wars New Line = Equal parts Austin Powers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles United Artists = James Bond Old Universal = Jaws Columbia - Ghostbusters Warner Brothers = Batman Warner Brother Television = Friends
That would have been nice before Christmas. I spent $100 on two 512MB Ultra 2 CF cards just before christmas. The Ultras are working great for me. We've had a lot over time and they've always been good cards. We use them primarially with Nikon D70s.
Jan 1st 2006 - Dec. 31st 2006. 1. The object of the challenge is to watch EVERY SINGLE TITLE in your collection (Extras are optional, but, like commentaries, are encouraged). 3. Commentaries are optional (but encouraged). 4. Television titles are excluded from the challenge (movies only...
Being that Christmas is only 3 days away, and some people's (like my crazy in-laws) will start tomorrow ... it's about time to start listing the loot. Since I haven't opened anything yet (except the new TV), I'll start with what I'm giving. Wife: Serenity Battlestar Galactica 2.0...
I was debating between the D70s and the 350XT for my wife for Christmas. I was originally going to get here a D200, but I couldn't get a firm release date from anyone, so I just went with the D70s and figured I could upgrade later. I'll need another good camera in about 6 months anyway. We've...
The Friday insert for Fry's in the DFW area has Serenity for $14.99 and Battlestar Galactica Season 2 for $29.99. I'll be getting both for the wife for Christmas, as well as The Exorcism of Emily Rose for me.
I wasn't aware that Dish Network did local HD channels over the satellite. DirecTV just started in our area (Dallas). In fact, I'm having the new satellite/reciever installed later this week.
I'm usually fairly caught up, but recently I've been getting very behind (for me). Also a catch-22 here. I started a business, which gave me even more disposable income for DVDs, but also takes so much time, I don't get to watch that much. I've got about 50 titles left to watch of which about 10...
