Ideal home theater:
Denon X5200W,
Kef R series R900's in front,
R300's as the sats,
with R50 Dolby Atmos Modules atop the lot,
an R600c for the center,
and two R 400b subs pumping out the thing home theater does better and cleaner than anyone.
All this would be fine-tuned with Audyssey...
For the price, think about buying a second pair and using one of the those as a center channel. You're not going to find a worthwhile "new" center for $100. I think I'd do that, then set the center to "small" (if you have separate crossover settings, I'd try 60Hz). Just a thought.
Have just 1 (using a SuperOne as a center channel in my home theatre). Have heard SB3's in store. These speakers are not as efficient as some (suspect you need a decent amp), but they sound REALLY good. The Classic 2 & 3 will produce enough bass for most music, but you'll need a sub for movies.
Again thanks, John. After discussion with my wife (who has been so for 36 years and I'm not gonna screw it up over used SuperOne's), I've decided to wait and buy what I really want (Classic 2 or Classic 3)...but that's alot of $ from now.
John, Thanks. I believe (thru the years) we have tended to share similar taste in equipment. Many of your posts address issues/solutions that are helpful to me and your thinking regarding quality & sonic leanings, are similar to mine (though seldom exactly the same). SO: My sub runs up...
Thanks. That puts them out for me...@ 10 1/2 inches deep, I have less than 2 inches clearance. There is a set of SuperOnes on ebay that is advertised by a local dealer. I have 1, and 2 more would give me my front end. I guess that's what I'll do. I just hate buying something that I don't...
Thanks John Garcia. The most important part of the question is: How much clearance? I have a subwoofer and it can take care of frequencies from 100Hz down. I am concerned re: the closest distance from the wall to the port on the 902.
To All: Please don't attempt to confuse Jason Garrett with facts. He has obviously made up his mind that he has been mistreated by Ascend Acoustics. Any attempts at explaining his responsibility are useless -not to mention, they seem to encourage him to drone on in ignorance. He simply will...
John Garcia, With what are you driving the 902's? Is a Denon 3805 sufficient to do them justice? They are rear-ported, so how much room between the back and wall do you have to give them (minimum)? I have admired the look of these speakers for several years, but never have known what...
David Fabrikant You are truly a good guy. I have considered Ascend Acoustics, but have only a 12" shelf on which to place them. I just don't have enough room to allow them to breathe. After reading your response, I am truly sorry that I can't buy them. I believe you represent a truly...
Mark Walker, Been away for awhile...sorry. You CAN change the pictures for each segment as displayed in the thumbnail. You can't modify the appearance of the menu itself. Re: SVHS, this recorder will readily accept inputs from another VCR. What it won't do is play SVHS tapes in their...
"what options do you have about the DVD menu?" You always have a menu with the Panasonic, but it is a menu of titles. If you break your "movie" into segments, it would work like chapters...but there are chapters generated every 6 minutes. These do not appear on the menu. In other words, if you...
There is a video stabilization mode on some JVC VCR's that some DVDR's read as copy protection. Don't know if this is a problem with other makers VCR's, but be aware of the JVC's. This stabilization can be turned off, but if you don't know it's there, it can drive you nuts when you copy your...
1. If half the unit breaks down, you're without the other half until you can get it fixed, or you have to replace more equipment than you would if they were separate, or you end up keeping a half-broken unit so you can use the half that works. That's why I buy from Costco and Sam's Club -if...
Yes, you can do this kind of editing on most DVDR's equipped with a hard drive. The obvious exceptions tend to be those that are equipped with Tivo. One thing you may not be aware of, those commercials tend to provide as much entertainment (and history) as the shows themselves. Sometimes...
While it could never be said that a combination VCR/DVDR yields superior quality, archiving is time-consuming and any device that saves time and effort is worth the investment. If time is not a problem, then separate devices (as they will likely yield superior quality) are the way to go.
"I already have to use 2 different VHS machines depending on the tape I want to transfer. Most Hi-Fi VHS decks will not play the linear audio track in stereo...the picture on it isn't as good as my Hi-Fi only model, so if the tape has a Hi-Fi audio track it gets played on one machine, if it...
Jan, Glad you are finding it easy. My cautions are meant to allay fears when "something weird" happens. (You'll know it when you see it.) IMHO, although I don't currently own one, the 5005 is about the most versatile, & easiest-to-use of the stand-alone DVDR's. The biggest problems I...
"It seems to make sense to me that the burned disc from the dvd recorder would playback best on that same recorder, don't you think?" All logic would indicate you are correct. Most people's experience would indicate you are incorrect. As far as commercially recorded viewing goes, I...
I'm not sure. I can only tell you that my experience has been that even DVD's recorded on my machine look better to me when played on my DVD player. Most other users report the same thing. What I would say to you is this: If you feel the picture quality is acceptable, there wouldn't be...
I suspect you'll have good luck with it. If you are experienced with DVD recording, you should have no trouble. If not, PATIENCE is, again, the best approach. We all have to start somewhere, so don't be afraid to ask. Here's another forum about DVDR's...
There are alot of these in use and, while some are highly critical of them, most who own them are pleased with what they do -especially for the price. I hope you bought it from a source that will readily take it back if you have problems. They tend to be reliable, but there are many (of all...
After a lengthy nightmare of returns and malfunctions with other machines, I settled on a Pioneer RT500 VCR/DVDR. There have been no problems with any media that I have recorded. I have used Maxell, JVC, Imation, Verbatim, and Fuji -R. Most have been 4x. I have also used Maxell, Verbatim, and...
Wanted to correct something I posted earlier, the DVD-RW's I have had trouble with are IMATION, not VERBATIM. The problem has only been with playback in someone else's Sylvania machine. Re: Fuji, I don't doubt they are of good quality and highly compatable, but I bought some Fuji printables...
I have a Pioneer rt500 (VCR/DVDR) and haven't had any problems with the discs being accepted by other players EXCEPT certain BRANDS of discs in certain DVD players. I am much more suspicious of the Discs than the recorder. I've had no problem with TDK, Maxell, or Ritek. I have had some problems...
My guess, since we're doing that, is that something sticky penetrated the package at the point of the top disc. I wouldn't consider it something you'd expect to find in Sony products and, while there is nothing wrong with buying Fuji, I'd have just exchanged it for a different pack of Sony's.
