Wes, Are you sill using the LT & RT surround out to the CS-3X Jr to derive the the overhead channel in your 7.1 setup or did you switch to the Rear LT & RT surround out to the CS-3X Jr for the overhead?
Michael Mohrmann Should work out just fine , I believe the Titan II LEs like the M&K 350's will go as low 20hz but you should be able to cut them off a 35-40hz and let the SVS take over at that point. Anyone know if there is a list of movies some where that have bass that actually dips...
Besides that rap is NOT music anyway it is basically talking to a beat, and even though some rappers leached on to some 70's 80's rock songs to enhance their rap none of it is in the class of what is being discussed here. I mean putting Run DMC, Public Enemy in the same league as The Beatles or...
As far a subs go I think it is the more the better in fact some time back some one here posted a pick of their system with 10 subs stacked in one corner looked something like this: X XX XXX XXXX
You are missing the quintessential rock song of all time Lynard Skynard “s Freebird! Not to mention the quintessential rock ballad Led Zeppelin’s Stairway To Heaven
If the subs are calibrated right the SVS should compliment the M&K NOT be dragged down by it. I have a pair of M&K 350's and plan keeping them and adding a SVS PC Ultra to the mix. I will set the M&K's handle everything above 35hz and the SVS to handle everything else down to 12hz. John...
I have tested most all and if your sound card supports ASIO playback then by far J River Media Center is the best. In fact it is the only way I will listen to music from my PC.
First; I don't just think I know Multi channel SACD's and DVD-A's blow away any CD played back with Dolby Prologic I or II @ 5.1. Second; I think that it very well could gain both genres better market success if it was marketed right but it is not. The average Joe goes to places like...
They have a anechoic response as low as 18hz and typical room response as low as 20hz the SVS PC ultra will go as low as 12hz. By no means are the M&K subs weak my pair will easily rattle the the dishes in my china cabinet which is in another room more than 40ft away from them. If you go...
That is what I have, You would want tripoles for the sides that’s for sure, you could go with either tripole or the S-150 in the rears, I have tripoles in the rears my self. The SS-150 tripoles are very versatile; you can setup them up as tripole, THX dipole or direct radiator. So you can...
There is a better way to go other than a second 350 and that is to get a SVS PC ultra sub, apparently the 350 and SVS compliment each other very well. There was a website that had detailed info on how to properly set up the combo but it is gone. The jest was since the SVS will go lower than...
I agree! I use the Sunfire Cinema Grand seven amp very clean virtually tailor made for the M&K 150. If you plan on listening to a lot of SACD or DVD-A music on your system then I would also highly recommend getting a M&K BMC Mini Bass Management Processor. I use one and I in my system and...
I spent almost six months researching, listening to , and reading reviews on just about every known speaker system I could find and when I finally heard the M&K 150's I was done. I have a 7.2 M&K 150 configuration with two M&K 350 subs and not only are they outstanding for movies they are...
If you want bookshelf speakers that can produce amazing sound for their size you might want to look at the M&K XENON - SYSTEM 35 speaker system while you are out shopping.
No, from what I understand is DVD-A will not be phased out it will just be migrated to HD-DVD-A. Thus making use of the HD video resolution for stills/slideshows and video playback during music playback. As for Dual-y Disc, why does it even exist? I would think it would be cheaper just...
Depending on how much separation there is between rows I have seen sides dualed, one set for each row. It was done by using a 7 channel amp instead of a 5 channel amp and splitting the surround left & right out from the receiver to the amp.
I ordered a couple of CD and SACD’s and I got e-mailed a conformation of shipping and noticed that one of the CD’s I ordered is a “Enhanced CD”. This is the first time I have ever seen that description before anyone know what the enhancement is exactly.?
A different Phil here; I would if at all possibe mount both the rears and the sides on the ceiling with something like a OmniMount 30.0 CA Series ceiling speaker mount angling them toward the listening area. The reason I say both side and rears is ideally for the best sound you want the...
If it is on the floor you might be better off with an ajustable center speaker stand like the SDACC CENTER CHANNEL STAND so you have more control over its positioning. If it is on a TV then you might want to get some MoPads check out this thread for a link to them...
I would have to agree, I have heard dual centers , in both side by side configuration and with one above screen and one directly below screen. Neither setup sounded right particulary if you are going to use your HT for high res surround sound music playback. Even the few people I have...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A problem with three exact speakers is what to do with the television. In most cases, the television prevents us from placing the center speaker in the same position as the mains. There are workarounds but all...
Especially being a trivial leap with a major Blu-ray - Hd DVD hurdle coming in the near future. Though I am not sure how these new formats will affect the music industry, I do know they both will support Dolby Digital Plus which is capable of 13.1 surround sound. Anyone up for a DD 13.1...
Now that is a good idea; If at least large stores like Best Buy, Circuit City, or Fry's had some small sound proof demo booths where one could go inside push a button and hear such an explanation, and or perhaps actually hear a CD track or part of a one then hear the SACD or DVD-A multi...
There is another; I use the M&K BMC Mini solely for DVD-A and SACD playback and it does a remarkable job with no loss in sound quality. I remember when I first got it and thought I would probably not even hear a difference or it would damage the quality in some way and I would have to pull it...
Regardless after reading the article I posted a couple posts above and following this discussion it appears if things do not change we hi-res music lovers are going to have to buy up what we can before the genre vanishes.
