I JUST got my HD decoder and was all prepared to give a visual demonstration to my roommate with The Tonight Show, when I saw...that. It definitely wasn't HD. I guess they have shut it down or tuned it out for now.
Steve, I think you're right. Most of the low signals I've seen on HD on other receivers and sets have been blockiness and not waviness (don't I sound technically correct tonight). More and more I'm thinking it's the cable. I'm going to call Projection Systems tomorrow and see what they suggest.
*RCA DirecTV HD Receiver *Sony KV-34XBR800 *VGA Breakout to Component Cable (from Projection Systems) In the mail today came my VGA Breakout to Component Cable. So FINALLY I can watch OTA HD programs through my RCA DirecTV HD receiver (the HD receiver does not have component outputs, only...
Recently got a good deal on a DirecTV HD Receiver, but my Sony KV-34XBR800 set doesn't accept 15 pin video inputs. My ol' man told me about an adapter he saw online that has the 15 pin slots on one end, and component video on the other. Anyone know where I could find one online? Heard it's...
My friend has a RCA Direct TV HD receiver he said he'd sell me for a nice price, but do I need a new dish in order to receive Direct TV HD? I have a RCA Direct TV dish already and I'd hate to have to buy and install a new one. Plus, will the Direct TV card that I have in my current reciever...
Everyone, thanks for all the help. Since they've asked me to come set up the TV, I plan on bringing my AVIA disc to calibrate and a couple of DVD's to show off them the potential of what they just bought.
Let me also add that one of the MAIN reasons they bought this set was because it was silver. PLUS, they're looking for a matching silver DVD player as well. All I could do is laugh.
FRIEND: Hey Donnie, our new TV's arriving Thursday. ME: Really? What did you get? Let me try to set this up. My friend and her entire family know how passionate I am about home theater equipment and so forth. So when they decided to make the plunge for a new TV, they wanted something really...
I borrowed my ol' mans Samsung HDTV tuner for some college football (looked fantastic) to view on my new Sony KV-34XBR800 set, and we hooked it up through component cables in the rear under the HD/DVD IN area. Then I noticed another input spot directly above it titled DVI-HDTV IN. It looked like...
Man, I'd love to get some details on what you're offering. For example what do I get for what I pay for...ha ha ha. I'm in Chicago, so if you're coming here in February, I'd be interested (it's not that cold...really...well, kinda).
Size vs. Quality. If size is your issue, and you want something that's going to deliver a presence in the room, then a RPTV is your choice. If video quality is important, then I would go with a direct TV image. The tube TV is smaller, and coupled with a progressive scan DVD player, you can't...
Scott / Guy Thanks alot for the info. Everyday I find another reason why I know I'm going to enjoy watching this TV. After this weekend if this post is still up, I'll report back.
Scott. One of the first things I did was set my DVD player to 16:9 mode. But thanks for asking. I remember when I was helping my ol' man hook up his Pioneer Elite, we couldn't figure out for the longest why our anamorphic DVD's weren't in the correct aspect ratio. Thanks for the advice on...
I am NOT satisfied with the DVD picture. It looks 10x's better than what I had, but it's frustrating looking at the screen when I know it can look better. PLUS like I said before, there are so many sliders to move to adjust the picture, I don't know where to begin. I tossed in The Phantom...
Hours later.... Wow...what a difference! Unfortunately, I don't have a progressive scan DVD player, so it's not as sharp as I would have liked. But man, it's leaps and bounds better than the picture I was getting. The Video options to adjust this set are...well, overwhelming. I love playing...
34" Wide FD Trinitron® Picture Tube Aspect Ratio 16:9 Hi-Scan 1080i™ Display This will be my first set with both component video inputs, progressive scan and the wonderous 16:9 aspect ratio. I'll have to wait for the next pay check to cop the DENON DVD-1600 to complete the package, but...
Ahhh! The 1600 has no coaxial output? Damn, I just bought a coaxial chord ($60) for my old Sony DVD player so I could test my 3802. I bought it specifically FOR the 1600 I was GOING to buy next week! Is there any chance I could use this chord elsewhere? And that price for the 1600 at 6ave.com...
Bill One other thing, since you mentioned price, the $4000 price that I put in the earlier reply should really be about $4600. I asked the guy at Tweeter to quote me a price on a variety of items including a Denon 1600 DVD player, and when he broke it down item by item, the Elite was priced...
There's the Pioneer SD533HD5 53 inch RPTV for $2500. Then there's it's Elite counterpart for about $4000. My ol' man has a 58" Elite, and after seeing his, I knew Pioneer was the company that I wanted to go with. On the other hand, the Elite series is a bit expensive. Now, I CAN afford...
Actually, the 3802 can't do Dolby Digital EX, only DTS-ES. You can however support a 6.1 and 7.1 track, but it's not officially DD EX. This is according to the manual.
