I think you mean LTV-32w6 HD. Now that one is 1366x768, right? Joseph DeMartino, How does the PC image look? Is text nice and sharp? If you sit a few feet away, is it just as good as a dedicated PC LCD monitor or is it a bit substandard in that application? I'm trying to find one that can...
On XP, I'm not sure if it can be set to go into hibernation at a later time. Why would you need it too? I just click Start/Turn Off Computer and when the little window opens I hold down the shift key. You will see that the Standby option then changes to Hibernation. I then click it and the PC...
Do you close the OS? That's the data that matters. Anytime a PC is using power to maintain data such as in sleep, standby, S1, S2 or S3 and that power is suddenly removed, the OS as well as data can be corrupted. That's just the basic nature of the thing no matter what type or brand of...
You should worry about data loss. Having the power go off suddenly can corrupt the Operating Sysytem. XP has copies of critical files in case they get damamged, but still you could end up having to reinstall the OS if the damage is severe enough. Everyone should use a UPS if possible. It will...
MarkHastings, it sounds like you are using a less intensive form of sleep which sounds like S1. The CPU and fans are still running. There's nothing wrong with that. Any of the suspend or standby modes S1-S3 should ideally be used with a UPS just in case the power goes out you won't loose data...
There are solid state harddrives that can boot very quick, but the RAM needed is so expensive. I've seen small ones for around $2000, but there's no way they are going to be cost effective any time soon. There are OBDII adapters that can interface the PC with a cars computer, but I don't use...
Are you using S1, S2 or S3? S3 is by far the most efficient if your PC can use it. The CPU is shut down conpletely and only enough juice for the RAM to stay charged and for it to listen for a wake up signal is used. I can understand not using any of these modes on a home PC. If it can boot...
Well, you don't want to use hibernation if you are changing any hardware parts, memory sticks or partition sizes. How often do you do that anyway? It's mainly for you to shut sdown and power up a PC that you use all the time that the configuration stays the same on. If you do make a change, the...
It's true. XP is better at running more combinations of cards and multiple output cards than 2000. If you build a dual card system with WN98se, 2000 and XP you'll see what I mean. Now dual heads cards are another story. A lot depends on the card and the driver. Matrox is very good with their...
It's basically a lidless Athlon 64. It runs at a much lower voltage and produces 25w-35w of heat max. So it is very conservative in power usage as well as runs very cool. It's supossedly better than the Intel Centrino as far as power vs. consumption. It can also throttle itself down when it has...
When running cards a game usually won't allow you to use them both. Unless it supports 2 video cards or a dualhead card, it will ususally ask you to deactivate one of the outputs. XP is the better OS to use, as 2000 doesn't have as good multiple monitor support.
The Chaintech AV710 has an optical out and runs under $30. They are very popular for their high quality as well as being able to have bitperfect output if you need it. Unless you need something exotic, it should do the job for you. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16829120103
Lew Crippen- "Fox does not have any HD, but plenty of prime-time in 16:9." Just thought I'd mention Tuesday's "24" is in HD. Not many realize this. Take care.
Well, I've moved on to the 520. I think it's more in line with what I want to do. About the above question, The 320 can't be used as a real stand alone amp because it has no inputs directly to the amp circuitry, right? It's direct inputs go through the processors circuitry then to the amps...
Remember, I only have the TV and DVD. I wanted to get more info before I bought a receiver. I was originally considering the HK 225 but found a good price at J+R for the 320. I don't think I can spend much more than $500 or so. Why can the 520 do this and not the 320? Later I might want...
The Harman Kardon AVR 320 has 6 channel inputs AND pre-amp outputs. I'm thinking I could, at the very least, use the pre-amp out for the left and right channels to go to a 2 channel equalizer and then output that to the receivers inputs. The other 4 channels could be simply looped from the outs...
Yea, I checked out that article an hour after buying it. I bought it on the spot, kind of impulsive. I've gone through a panasonic guide about the serviceman stuff, but it didn't mention the setting that turns off the SVM. So I didn't go into it. I'd actually prefer just pulling the cover off...
Chip E, I see what you mean. That looks like a much better remote. How can a person get it by itself? Or are there good aftermarket remotes? Any recommendations?
I just got a used Panasonic CT-32HX40 for 500 bucks! The DVD image is just fantastic, but I suspect the SVM is on. Analog cable channels don't look very good either. I'm guessing part of is just that I can see more of the defects in the signal. Maybe the line doubler is not working right...
I just bought my firsy DVD player, Toshiba 4800, and I can't believe how bad the remote is. Why can't they have a big button in the middle for play with buttons flanking it for REW and FOR? I looked at some other brands remotes and their the same basic design. Lots of small similar buttons...
I know this is an old thread, but I had an suggestion. I saw else where on this forum about using mattes. You can make little black screens out of cardboard and black material and attach them over the black bars. Just attach them so they cover the transition area that's shaking. Using these...
I just got a Sony KV-27FV17 for 500 bucks, so I'm going to be sticking with it for a few years. This model is NON-HD but had the "poor mans HD" feature of the enhanced 16/9 mode. A progressive scan DVD player would be fine but isn't essential. I want top notch interlaced output. No one seems...
Is anyone actually familiar with the real "Matrix" that Technical Remote Viewers refer to? They say its the source of all information, past, present and future.
"The world's foremost remote viewing teacher, Edward A. Dames, Major, U.S. Army (Ret.), is the creator of Technical Remote Viewing...
I saw the Directors Cut and personally didn't care for it. I think you really need that ending narrative. Especially for a first time viewer who might not understand what's going on. Is there any way to get a DVD of the theatrical release version? I've tried to find it and had no luck. Some...
