Do yourself a favor and checkout the thread regarding this title on that other forum. You can say all you want about screenshots, but sometimes a release is so screwed up they're all you need to make you stay far away as they done in this case for me.
It is unfortunate but not surprising given...
African Queen would probably sell even more if it included a lossless audio track. I've pretty much given up on Paramount because even when they do release a classic they always find some way to screw it up.
I second the recommendation to get a multi-region Blu-ray Disc player. There are ones that can be had for as little as ~$150 (see the Sherwood BDP-5004 thread in the hardware forum for more details).
However, if you have a Panasonic BD player there is a work-around to play many RB and RC discs...
I watched this disc with my son Saturday night. I found it ironic that I was exactly his age when my parents took me to see this in the theater many moons ago.
Overall, the disc looks good, but there is a lot of scratches and wear on the print used as the source in places. I quickly got...
Aaron, I have received it, but I haven't watched it yet. I will pop it into my PS3 tonight and confirm its encode, but if the JP BD was 1080p, I suspect the HK is also since it is supposed to be the same transfer. I did confirm it has JP DTS-HD MA 6.1 however.
Yes, the player can only be set to one DVD and BD region at a time. The Sherwood uses the same codes as the Momitsu, so use the following for reference:
FYI. This player is a bit noisy and insanely bright with no dimming mechanism, which is problem for my viewing environment. I overcame the...
I rented this from Netflix and watched it last night. All in all, I'm glad I rented it. I found it really fell apart in the third act. After all, it is hard to create drama in front of a computer screen, or at least Ive always thought so.
I bought Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence along with it, so splitting the shipping cost evenly across both discs the total came to roughly $32.24 plus whatever credit card currency conversion fees wind up getting applied.
DDD House has shipped my HK Ponyo BD, so I'm set. I'll pick up a US copy for the kids when its on sale. All told I expect both to be far cheaper than either of the JP Ponyo BDs.
If the information on disneystore.com is to be believed, it appears Ponyo will have a Japanese audio track but a lossy one.

Oddly enough, I never had any trouble with HD DVD/DVD Combo Discs, but I had a ton of problems with DVD-18. That alone is enough to make me steer clear of similar releases, but the additional issue I have with these type of discs is that I find they come scratched far more frequently than...

I watched this disc last night. I think it was only my second viewing of the film. I can't really remember my first. I guess it must not made much of a first impression upon me other than being a bit hokey. This time around it was still hokey, but enjoyable nevertheless. I thought...

Highlander is already out on Blu-ray Disc, albeit in the UK. However, it is region free or at least Region A, B.

Jeff Kleist of The Digital Bits recently said this would be out within the next year on Blu-ray Disc, so I doubt this is your run-of-the-mill Amazon placeholder.
Nelson, yes that's the one! I thought you created it, but I wasn't completely sure. I also couldn't seem to remember whether it had been made available for download.
Thanks doing them! I am anxiously awaiting their availability.
Thanks, Nelson. Well, the Panasonic DMP-BD55 hasn't had a firmware update since 7/8/2009, so it would seem to me it is about due.
I never had any issues like this with Season One, so it must be something new CBS Television is doing or not doing with their discs.
I started off watching Catspaw on Disc 2 last night, but I received a 'Network Connection Failed' error from my Panasonic DMP-BD55 even though the player successfully passed a Network Connection test in Setup. Has anyone else had an issue like that?
I got to my Target a few minutes after they opened at around 8 AM EST. Gremlins was on the shelf already, so I grabbed one. Then I looked around frantically for their Wizard of Oz exclusive and couldn't find it. Finally, I found the place holder for the release, and I asked one of the Target...
I am interested in knowing if the A/V quality on the Japanese BD is any better myself. So far, I've seen nothing to indicate it isn't the same as the Classic Media release.
This disc is the international cut, and, yes, it will play here. I was very impressed with the A/V quality of this disc considering Anchor Bay's underwhelming DVD releases. Buy it, I say!
Same here. I know it's not the end of the world, but my dislike for the packaging combined with the price and my unfamiliarity with some of the films makes this an easy pass until the exclusive films are released individually.
