I see no reason a PB10-NSD could not be laid on its side. That is a fairly large space, but I can't think of anything else in that price range that would be better for such a space. It sounds like you're pretty tame with your overall volume, so my guess is you'd be fine. -Robb
SOLD Hello, I am selling my Boston Acoustics VR-M (formerly their top of the line) series speakers. They are in very good condition, and sound fantastic. I am asking for $1,500 for the whole set (or about what one VR-M90's MSRP was). This set includes the following speakers: 2 x...
Update: As many of you know I have had my PB12-Ultra/2 up for sale, but all the offers have been non-local. As I refuse to ship this thing, I have a different idea: There will be a drawing for it at the get together, and you must be present to win. Yes, I'm giving away a PB12-Ultra/2 in the...

I'll be hosting a get together at my place on Saturday April 26, 2008 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. For AZ folks interested in what the SVS Ultra 13 and the MTS/MBS speakers sound like, this is your chance to audition them. Ron from SVS will be on hand with spiffs, and perhaps some other...
I made a mistake in the title of my original post, so I'm re-posting with the correct product. Since I'll be adding at least one PB13-Ultra very soon, it's time to let go of "my precious". I have a PB12-Ultra/2 in the original American-made "Mercury Red". The sub has never been bottomed, and...
Made a mistake on the title. It is a PB12-Ultra/2. Since I'll be adding at least one PB13-Ultra very soon, it's time to let go of "my precious". I have a PB12-Ultra/2 in the original American-made "Mercury Red". The sub has never been bottomed, and is in excellent condition. I want to sell...
Yes. You can, however, note your receiver's sub out level with each port setting so you can adjust without breaking out the meter each time. I.e., you would know -5 is for no ports blocked, -3 for one port blocked, 0 for two ports blocked (these numbers are just examples!). -Robb
jpman70, Assuming everything is set up correctly (speakers set to small, etc.) then yes, I'd imagine the pink noise tone on the disk you mentioned would cause something to come from the sub. -Robb
jpman70, I'm not certain, but it sounds like the sub may not have "woken up" on when you played the test tones (I base this on your statement that the sub's light turns from red to green after a couple of minutes). Make sure the sub's light is green, then try your test tones. If that...
I'm going to guess these guys know something about piano finishes: http://www.steinway.com/technical/ge...ructions.shtml I think this is a relevant quote: "Using wax on the surface is not recommended." (Emphasis is theirs). -Robb
Luke525, Don't count on break in to have much effect. You should go through this list carefully to make certain everything is set up correctly: http://www.robbroy.net/HT/SubwooferErrors.cfm -Robb
Back in late May I had a business trip take me to Pittsburgh, so I took the opportunity to drive up and see the guys at SVS. There I was fortunate enough to get a glimpse of these speakers. The 3D renderings do not do them justice. They were gorgeous! These will be my next speakers, and I'd...
Many rooms will induce a peak like the one you describe. That is the reason most of the Plus and Ultra lines come with a single PEQ - to tame that largest peak. Positioning can help, but can also result in moving the peak from one portion of the spectrum to another. -Robb
Uforia, First, have you calibrated wit an SPL meter and (ideally) the Avia disk? How hot to run the sub is a matter of personal taste, and whether or not you have enough sub for your space to pull it off. If I had to guess, I would say most run their subs 2-4 dB hot. As to the...
dire, Besides the obvious of double-checking that you are plugged into the correct RCA connections (I have to admit I've struggled with a sub when I had the RCA cable plugged into the receiver's subwoofer in, not out...) I would recommend going through this list checking off each item...
I've owned 2 PB10-NSDs (one with the original NSD and one with the updated NSD driver) and a PB12-NSD. I could hear no difference on music at normal volumes between the two. At higher volumes, the PB12-NSD wins. -Robb
slshearer, From the small picture I found on ebay, it looks like you can use a standard RCA connection from your subwoofer out on your receiver to the subwoofer. -Robb
I can't believe I didn't include this link earlier: http://www.robbroy.net/HT/SubwooferErrors.cfm Since I host the dang thing you'd think I'd remember... Go through the list VERY carefully. I can't tell you how many times I've tried helping someone only to find one of those silly items...
I don't know what to read into this, but AH removed the "sticky" they had on their post, and I could swear it was there earlier today. In case this gets brought up by a salivating sucker-puncher, no I am not an SVS employee. SVS is a client of mine. The only reason I can even say that is SVS...
