Solen has this thing with not always having the newest selection of drivers that the company makes. They are really good, I haven't have a problem with them yet.
I'm thinking metallic-silver. Nothing to shiney ;). I'm gonna pikc up a bunch of primer this week. I was thinking at least tow coats in general and a few more on the edges. I just wanted to make sure there wouldn't be any problems with the silver color :) Thanks for the help. Cheers...
I'm currently coming to the end of my project, but I need some advice. I plan on painting the cabinets. I'm thinking of doing them in silver. What I want to know is how difficult that would be? Would it be way too difficult for an amateur such as my self? Also, how much primer should I put on...
well I soldered everything up this morning...and I don't think I fried anything. I tried not to heat the cap leads too long, just enough to get the wire. I didn't read this soon enough to try and use a heat sink....but... Considering they are playing behind me without boxes I think they are...
How long would too long be when heating the components for soldering? I just really do not want to damage my caps. I have everything wired up dry and ready to be soldered together tomorrow morning. I'm going to practice on some extra pieces of wire at first just to make sure I can still do it. I...
Thanks a lot for the replies. I'm gonna get some smaller wire tomorrow. I think I'm gonna try and find some silicon tomorrow as well. I almost forgot about that. I'm glad you guys menioned using the silicon cause I would have put the hot glue one my caps :D. I have to get some silicon...
Right now I'm in the process of building my crossovers...but I'm having some troubles. Will it really matter what size wire I have running to the drivers? The two drivers are the Seas P16REX and 25TAC/D. I have 12 gauge wire now, but soldering three pieces of it is going to be a pain. Would...
Thanks, I haven't had time to search for threads or else I probably would have found that one ;). To be honest I'm not really set on any manufacture yet. I'll talk to them and see what they think about ordering online. Its up to them in the end. If you want you can suggest others that would...
My parents want me to pick out a good HTB for them. They hven't set a price limit but I'm guessing about $500-600 cdn. I'm unsure what to buy them. I would like them to spend a little more money, but I know they don't want to. This will be their frist new stereo system for like 30 years. I...
I have seen bends and wrinkles in paper cones that were caused by some pushing on them....If the cone was rigid enough then there is a good possibility that it could crack. Could it have been the cause of shipping? As for voice coils....I have an old (30years) set of cerwin vega 15s (out of...
My brother has a Panasonic SA-HE100 and ti works great. He likes lots of power (bass head), and it gives it. Every review i've read on it say that it is one of the best bang for the buck recievers out there. I haven't heard it on anything other than a sony 5.1 setup that he bought but the...
I think its probably the same as my friends tv....and thats the same problem hes having...
I would say nothing less than two feet....you might be able to find some more and better info out on the net or if someone else with a little more experience could pipe in about it.
just my...
I think the same thing happend to a friends TV....it was just dieing....If you are planning to buy a new TV then just stick it out....BTW what type of TV is it?
I'd watch the video stage 5 comments Oscar.....Its super inteligent....If they find out you've been talking about them the systems will jump off the wall at you next time your in a store with Bose.....You never know what they might do to you....hell....why do you think everything Bose is...
I screwed over my old computer monitor with speaker magnets. I was so excited when I got the box that I plopped it right down in fron of my monitor. Then after cutting some of the tape I realized my whole screen was green...this is a bad thing. It took a long time for the color and distortion to...
The Pioneer drivers are from the HPM 150 if memory serves me. They werre in a ported enclosure, I can't remember the dimensions. They don't have insane amounts of movement, a tempest is more, but they sound good and tight. As for distance from the tv....any closer than 2 feet is pushing it...
I would have to agree with Scott. I have clipped my crappy Technics int. amp many times drving a friends two 15" (from some old Pinoeer speakers). With only a 100watt reciver I wouldn't doubt you were clipping them...plus don't the tempests have a fairly high power rating; ie a lot higher than...
Whats wrong with the second option.....at least you wouldn't have any inroom problems....now the reaction of the spouse or neighbors to the gapping hole in the side of your house might be a little different.....but didn't you always want a sunroom anyway?
:D
Cheers,
Jeremy
I'm working on a 3-way system using all Seas drivers. They are the 25TAC/D, P17REX, and P21REX. This is my first project, and its a big one for a fist try. Luckily I got the crossovers designed by someone else: Link Removed
Thanks Tony!!!!
That made things a little easier. I'm just...
Chris, nice system!
I agree, DIY is a disease. Its very addictive..... too addictive sometimes.....damn I wish I had time to finish my speakers....and space to put them in.....that box full of speaker parts on my floor is so lonely *sniff :frowning:
:D
Cheers,
Jeremy
I actually did the same thing. I heard the Paradigm Studio 60s running on a Sunfire Signature amp. Don't get me wrong, they sounded great. But latter that day when I walked into another store with B&W 602s2 s playing I was really blown away. They were playing on a Rotel integrated amp.
The...
When I connect some of the wires together, will that increase the capacitence per foot? Is there a way to calculate this? I'm a little bit away from being able to build my speakers and want to put some nice cable inside them. There would be short lengths (1ft or so) so capacitence should be that...
Ok, I think I get the idea....
Thanks a lot....I may have more questions, but they will have to wait for tomorrow.
Cheers,
Jeremy
PS. Hobbies are great aren't they ;)
How does the capacitence increase when the cables are linked. I was thinking of connecting all the colored cables and all the black cables. I remember seeing an explination to this somewhere, I just can't rmember where. I know that all cable has some capacitence over it's length; but what...
Ok, my knowledge of electronics is alright. I did my first two years of my degree in EE so I know a litle bit, but am very veyr very far from an expert. Is there anyone who can explain capacitence in cables to me. Or show me to a sight that can. I might wait until next summer when I can...
The problem with listening to them in an audio store is that they are usually in an open environment. Take them home and put them in your own room and they will probably sound a lot different. Put them in a A/B comparison with the others and there will be a huge difference. I've heard a few...
