    Question

Honestly guys do you think John is serious? He is clearly posting this as a gag. I highly doubt he is serious because of the fact that he told us he had a 19 inch TV. He knew this would get people to provide serious feedback on a matter that really shouldnt even be posted here. You cant have...

Outlaw 7200 too much for RTi28's???

I am moving into a new house and needed an amp to power my setup due to a larger room (14x19 which leads right into an open kitchen of 10x17). I plan to upgrade my speakers in the near future, but my current set up consists of 4 RTi28's and a CSi30 center. My question is would the amp...

ISF Video Cals: New Eng, Southern States, FL, LA/SanDiego, N East, Maritime Canada, Vegas, Texas

Anyone? One of the other ISF calibrationists replied in another thread with "Not really" which I dont fully understand. That leads me to believe that it may still be correctable.

ISF Video Cals: New Eng, Southern States, FL, LA/SanDiego, N East, Maritime Canada, Vegas, Texas

I would love to get this done if it would correct my overscan on my 62HM84. It is extremely irritating that Toshiba will not allow it to be corrected. Is it not even possible via the designer menu?

Do DLP, LCOS LCD, or any other fixed pixel display need ISF calibration?

So if it is not correctable via ISF could a HTPC correct it for me? I have read that you can download programs to reduce overscan on HTPC's.

Do DLP, LCOS LCD, or any other fixed pixel display need ISF calibration?

I personally think that a 5% overscan on a higher end TV is a little much. Combine that with the fact that you cant correct it and it is unacceptable. Am I the only one who feels that way?

Do DLP, LCOS LCD, or any other fixed pixel display need ISF calibration?

Well that is definately not good news. Using the overscan screens on Avia and DVE it shows exactly 5% on all sides. Is that average? Should I be happy with that on a $3.5k set? I wouldnt really have put much thought into if DVE hadnt mentioned that DVD producers no longer compensate for the...

Do DLP, LCOS LCD, or any other fixed pixel display need ISF calibration?

So it would be possible to have the overscan corrected on a Toshiba 62HM84 DLP via ISF calibration?

    DLP Light spot on screen.

Hello, I have a Toshiba DLP 62HM84. I have had for about three weeks and recently noticed a grey or light spot just below the center of the screen. I can only see it when there is a black backgroung and it appears lighter than the rest of the screen. It is about the size of a dime and not a...

can ultra-low frequencies damage speakers or sub?

Thanks Bruce. I gave it the "push" test and i dont hear anything so i assume all is well. Goes to show the quality of your drivers. Hows that for adverstisement. Some idiot running a continuous 20hz tone through one of your subs and it just keeps on rumbling away! Thanks also Chu and MingL.

can ultra-low frequencies damage speakers or sub?

So you guys have me curious now. When i first got my Velo CT-150 i played a continuous sine wave at 20hz at a fairly high volume (close to reference) for about 10 minutes. Which brings me to my question. If i did do some damage to my sub, what exactly does a blown sub sound like? Is it something...

Can my system play at reference levels?

So you think i could damage the tweeters at reference level then? My room is 13x20 by the way.

Can my system play at reference levels?

So what does it take to play at reference levels? I currently own a Kenwood VR-605, 4 Polk RTi28's for mains and surrounds, CSi30 Center, and a Velo CHT-15. The amp is rated at 100 wpc, but we all know its not pushing more than around 30 wpc with all channels driven. So what do you guys...

Subwoofer Isn't Making The Impact I Expected

I am sure you know what you are doing, but i think Avia may be the problem. There have been posts in the past stating that after calibrating the sub with Avia they can barely hear the bass. Assuming the main speakers are calibrated correclty, try setting the sub to around 79 db (on the lowest...

Normal to have a bad reaction to "real bass"

Before lugging that beast around the room maybe i should walk around as the sweep is playing and see if i can hear a difference. What do you think?

Normal to have a bad reaction to "real bass"

David you were right on the money. I hadnt thought of using the SPL. Just took for granted i would hear it. The velo is definately putting out sound below 30 without much of a drop on the SPL. I let my girlfreind listen due to everyone hearing being different, and she could hear it lower than me...

Normal to have a bad reaction to "real bass"

Just upgraded from a HTIB kenwood 8 inch subwoofer to a Velodyne CT-150. When i first cranked this new beast up my initial reaction was huh what the hell is that! It sounded so much different that i have to admit my initial reaction was bad. However it blends so much better with my other...

Internal test tones or setup disc?

Hello all, I was curious as to which is more accurate (if either) for calibrating your home theater? I would imagine that a setup disc such as video essentials would be more accurate due to it coming from the disc rather from the hardware, but im just assuming. I use the internal test tones...

    Bose wins again!!!

I agree with the comments made on Bose home theater products, but i must put my 2 cents in on the car audio. My Mazda came with a Bose setup, and it sounds really good. Great bass and good highs. Although they dont limit their size with the car audio. My car has two 6X9's and i belive 2 5 1/4's...

DD 6.1 and DTS 6.1 Matrixed channel?

Hello all, I have a question about 6.1 sound. My understanding is that in DTS 6.1 the rear center channel is matrixed on a regular 5.1 receiver lacking the "ES" decoding so that you still get the effect its just not discrete. Is this correct? If so is the rear center in a DD EX also matrixed...
