Ok, thanks for the replies even if some are a bit off topic. :) For the sheetmetal, I was thinking of using some roll flashing or something similar, is this thinking on the right track? Where would I get the bucking magnet, partsexpress or mcm, or someplace like that?
I am looking to put a tempest in an enclosure directly below my TV. How would I go about magnetically shield the enclosure? I am figuring a bucking magnet and maybe some sheet metal on the top of the enclosure. What size magnet would I need? Thanks for the input guys.
Hahahaha, I have actually done that before. I don't actually like doing it, as I feel like I am whoring myself out. I have a decent job right now (for a college student) so I have income, it is just that I had a big expenditure come up with tuition and books and all. I will eventually get the...
No, I actually did not get around to doing this yet. School started up and low and behold I am broke yet again. I am just now recovering from the purchase of all my books and what not, so I am saving up for the driver itself along with the shielding materials if needed.
I have been seeing them on eBay and they have begun to tweak my interest. Wondering if anyone has used them and has any opinions on them. I don't think they actually play mp3s but rather convert them to ATRAC or what ever it is minidisc reads. I'd really like to get a portable MD payer and...
A friend of mine gave me a great idea. I could possibly use it as a TV stand. I like the TV stand I have now, but it isn't made for my TV and there are some notches where the legs would fit that are pretty apparent. If I use this enclosure as a TV stand, how would I go about magneticly...
Dammit, I used the wrong dimensions. :b I wrote down what I wanted to use for overall length, width and height. The height was the most critical and I wanted to stay around 18". Well, silly me when I started crunching numbers thought that I meant 18" interior height. Nope... now the stupid thing...
You will want to wire two shakers in series to an individual channel. You should have two sets of shakers each will provide an 8 ohm load. Do not wire the sets in parallel with each other or you will be showing a 4 ohm final load to the amp.
For my biggest DIY project to date, I am wanting to make a Tempest coffee table. I plotted it in winISD and was going for as flat a responce curve down to 20Hz as I could manage. The way I have it now, I get my 3dB drop right at 20Hz. The box dimensions(internal) are 24"x16"x41" taking into...
I will try and find the closest open spot, but I am not about to sit and wait on someone. I'll walk longer than I will sit there. Actually moving seems more productive to me. About the guys with corvettes that park out at the end of the lot... great that you have a nice car and don't want to...
Not to quibble over details, but... He told me that he had a college guy that he would see in about a month. He told me that if I shipped it out, he'd let the guy take a look at it but was not sure how much he would charge to fix if or even if he could fix it. He said that it was not a warranty...
Sorry for the long responce time, I just moved and had no internet. Yes, I contacted Steve. He told me that he had no problems with those amps and would not exchange it. It wasn't that he was rude or anything like that. Infact he was very nice about letting me know I just wasted my money...
The Apex has no real warranty, BTW. I have a dead Apex Jr that was not abused that died after about 4 months of use. He will not even accept an exchange or offer to help fix it. He does not understand that sometimes there can be duds in a batch of electronics. Just something to be aware of...
I did a search on a couple differant terms and didn't get anything that helped me, so here it goes. I am moving into a new apartment, and the living room is kinda small. It is like 17x11 but the area that the HT stuff will go is more like 11x11. Would it be preferable to have the TV and...
After going through the setup menus, I have been able to get a somewhat balanced volume output... however, this is by boosting the left channel by 10dB and lowering the center and right by 2dB. I am not an expert, but something tells me this isn't the way it should be. The speakers are on...
Well, I am hoping this is just a setup issue and not what I suspect is the real culprit. My front left channel is not putting out much volume compared to the rest of the speakers. Just a bit of background info, this receiver was purchased from www.Ac4l.com as a factory refurb. When it...
As far as minimum power, about 50w for each VC would be a good starting point. However, more is nice :) With the price that it is, the PE 250 plate amp should be a definate concideration.
Thanks for the input. I called but he was on the phone. I emailed him, so hopefully something good will come of this. Looks like either way this goes, I should have bought from PE, the little bit of money that I saved has come back to bite me in the butt.
