Well all shops down here in california are good guys, circuit city etc that sell those receivers I will try to find a smaller audio place that might be able to adjust on prices Good guys is usually largely overpriced and wont even let you listen in store...you have to buy and then return...

well the colors are color coded right? Thats why I made sure they were connected right and even checked the dvd player menu to see if I needed to change anything Im guessing it is the dvd player and when I get my new Home THeater setup I will get all new cables and try again thanks

well ill just say this....I bought a monster cable S video cable once with my older 27 inch sony and this dvd player and the screen would flash on dark scenes of the dvd...took off the cable..and no probs with the rcas then I used the tiny little S video cable that came with my vcrs...and it...

Why does this setup have 100watts per channel and the ONkyo sr-500 single reciever has no where near this power? Seems odd to me that this receiver is putting out so much power WOuld you guys recommend this HTIB? or buy a Yamaha RX-v530 and buy the towers, rears and subs seperate?

I listened to many, except the denon and onkyo no places near me let me listen to the denon or onkyo and the denons are too much money for little features No marantz near me also Yamaha has the most features/sound- everything I need for my HT

hmm...yes I was looking at the RX-V530 and its only a 10-15 dollar difference between the HTR 5550 and the RX-V530. I read some posts and poeple say they are the same...yet this salesman was giving me the old...THE HTR line is horrible and a lower model series that isnt as good as the RX line....
