    My disc of Polanski's 'The Pianist' played fine when I got it six months ago. Now the picture freezes at the layer change and the disc stops. I have tried it on two DVD players and my Macintosh computer and it freezes identically with all of them.

    Does anyone have any information about the state of the original elements for Giant? I saw the restored theatrical print a few years ago and some scenes looked like they had been retrieved from a 16mm print.
