    General RPTV Picture Quality Question

I did some convergence. I had the grid pretty darn straight and the guns lined up. I also did use Digital Video Essentials (their latest one) to set the brightness, contrast, and color settings. The room can get bright during the day but I leave the lights off in the evening. The picture...

    General RPTV Picture Quality Question

The one I sold was a 43" 4:3 EDTV set. I had an HDTV OTA receiver hooked up to it through the 480p component port and even that didn't have the greatest colors. The new one (which hasn't been delivered yet so can't comment on the picture) is a Samsung 42" 16:9 HDTV (reviews I read said it has...

    General RPTV Picture Quality Question

I'm new to RPTV's. I've always had tubes but recently purchased an RPTV. I immediately noticed that the picture on it was very dull (colorwise) compared to my tube TV. Is this normal for an RPTV? My other TV is a cheap Sharp 25” that I only paid $200 for earlier this year and the picture quality...

    Extended Warranty

I haven't tried yet, but I definitely will once the TV arrives.

    Extended Warranty

It was bought online. The site does offer a 2-year extended warranty through MyRepairMaster, but does that mean that the new owner of the TV can buy the warranty through them? Also, a related question... if you buy a refurbished TV without a warranty (from an auction), can you get a warranty?

    Extended Warranty

If you buy a two week old TV that has a non-transferrable warranty, is there somewhere that you can buy an extended warranty?

    Convergence Problem

I agree with that. I was mainly interested in the color settings because I had a tint that I wasn't able to get rid of through the normal settings. The picture looks much, much better now. The setting I changed was an auto black level setting I think which showed the curved colored lines...

    Convergence Problem

I had forgotten to turn back off one of the settings... had to do with the black level. Does this mean that if you crank up the brightness and contrast on any RPTV you'll see those lines?

    Convergence Problem

I recently bought a rear projection TV and today to improve the picture beyond the normal convergence I went into the service menu. I had found optimal settings posted by someone for the exact model TV, but after applying them I ended up with colored swirvy lines across the background of the...

    Progressive Scan possibilities

There are non-plasma EDTVs. In fact, I ordered one (43" 4:3 Rear Projection for $699). Since I haven't received it I can't comment on picture quality, but I'm planning on hooking my HDTV receiver up to it in 480p mode. I'm not sure if there are any tube ones.
