Maybe the Mic for Denon is of a much better quality and as such doesn't pay for Denon to include it free as Pioneer and Yamaha do. I know that both the latter mentioned mics don't look more expensive than $5 a piece. Just speculation though as I haven't seen the new Denon first hand.
That's right Shane, the Pioneer's with exception to the 59txi do NOT have PLIIx. However, if you only have a 5.1 system PLIIx doesn't add anything to PLII. Also, it's already been noted that the 3805 is essentially a 3803 with PLIIx, denon-link, and the auto room setup (The Pioneer elites...
Hell, all you need is to look at the above pictures of the two. No contest. Go with the 3300. It was still too pricey when I bought my current receiver to attain but the cost they are going for now is like 50% of what I came across half a year ago.
I would save the $ and go with the 1400 over the 2400. How is the pricing for the other two? For the remote I have observed that a receiver has the most unique buttons on it of any component in your system. That is why other universal remotes seem to always fall short of the remote that came...
Good choice Jesse. I would consider the 4802 the best then the 3300 and 1400 next based on whether you need the better amp and power supply of the 3300 or want the newer features on the 1400. Good hunting.
Good point Paul. I have already used my two optical ins and now need to restrict myself to buying further HT pieces with Coax. Not huge as most brands are now aware of providing both a coax and optical now a days...but my current DVD and CD player only had optical.
Actually, the guts of all 4 Elites (43tx, 53tx, 45tx, 55txi) are essentially the same. I doubt you'll hear a difference in sound between any conecctions except using the i.link from the 55txi. The 53tx offers the same MCACC as the 45tx and 55txi, so it 'can' improve the sound over the 43tx, but...
The current Onkyo's are even cheaper than their predecessors of a year or two ago. And the lack of power is definitely an issue. Out of all receiver brands out their that I have listened to Onkyo is the ONE company that fails to have enough power for movies with loud surround scenes. The...
There are exceptions, but weight is typically a good indicator of a good receiver. And if the transformer weighs so much more then why is the new 2400 less powerful than the 2200 from a couple years ago. I beleive it's because they sacrificed power for more features. Either that or Yamaha was...
One thing to note about that James is that the 2200 is a couple years older and weighed near the same as todays 2400 with more channels and more features. So likely power supply/heat sink what have you has been downgraded a bit since the 2200.
I see. Sorry, I don't know the answer to that one. I know that Denon is pretty fickle about there warranty though. You better keep calling them until you get an answer.
Bob, Why would it be void if you bought it from an authorized dealer? The MFG doesn't which Auth. dealer you bought it at, at least I didn't think they did.
Can't fault you there Trevin. That's the best price I've heard of for an authorized 45tx! They are so scarce too. It's a mute point now but I beleive you made the right choice. The Digital amp technology is still unproven at this price range, and I heard that that particular HK amp just didn't...
You'll find some people willing to take on a risk like that, but I am definitely not one of them. I have heard, AND BEEN WITNESS TO, too many problems with buying big money purchases over the web. I would only buy from an authorized dealer when you are talking >$1000. Don
Yes, they will work with Both, but as David said a higher-end receiver would work better. Both the receivers you listed are mid-line models respectively. As I recall HK can drive all loads well regardless of model. Of course once again stepping up to the AVR-7200 with it's torriodial transformer...
Treven, Paul.Little is mis-informed. The Elites actually have some of the strongest amp sections in their segments (better than Sony ES, Denon, etc.) However, for a while they did have an overactive protection circuit, but that issue has since been fixed. (fixed as of Oct. 2002 I beleive)...
The 45tx is much better. The Elite line was totally re-done with the model year which the 45tx falls in. Ever since the Elites have been getting very high praise. Also, because of the fact the 37 is older the 45tx is likely to have more up to date decoding formats. Your decision should be...
Todd, First and foremost: Sonically both have the same guts and the same sound. Differences: 53tx has: - Audio sync/delay (Manual, but more precise than standard .5 increments that MCACC does on both units.) - on-screen display is cabable of use thru component inputs not just s-video...
My opinion, go and listen to them in a store. If you cannot compare all three at once, at least you can demo the features and get a feel for which you think would sound best in your room. I went with a Elite 45tx over both Denon and HK. I suppose if I had to take one of the other two it would be...
Clarence, First off, stay away from ebay. I've bought a lot of things on ebay, but by and by Ebay is a crock. Rarely does a transaction give the "mint" merchandise you expect and obviously there is rarely any recourse for the buyer. In fact I was recently involved as a 'witness' of sorts...
I agree with Justin. The main benefit of going with the 53tx is that the receiver does the calibrating for you. If you are confident in your skill enough so that you think you can equal that setting manually, then go for it and save some money. If not, buy the 53tx let it do the equalization and...
I am not certain of the component bandwidth. You could just look at the online manual of the 45tx off Pioneers website. The Component bandwidth is the same for the 53tx. As for the RS-232 port on the 45tx...no one can say. The best shot for a upgrade seems to be DPLIIx since it would be 100%...
I have spoken with a couple dealers that sell both brands and if you are comparing strictly the Auto EQ features then I would say the Yamahas should have a slight edge in real world calibration. The two dealers I spoke to said that YPAO performs equally as well as MCACC, but not better. As I...
I beleive there are differences, just not dramatic ones. The 53tx weighs about the same as the 43tx (~38), with the 45tx being about 3 lbs. heavier I beleive (~41). I've seen owners post the weights before on avs but I don't remember the exact weights.
