I've seen the film at a DLP cinema here in Richmond B.C. Overall we were disappointed in the image quality. The biggest issue was either a soft focus or lack of resolution. It just didn't look sharp. In addition we noted the poor black level as others have mentioned.
Typically meaning for most sets - it wasn't my comment and the manual doesn't give details about the Theater mode. The only other 2 modes are Standard and Dynamic.
It's not stated anywhere, but the Theater mode setting (as opposed to Standard or Dynamic)may turn off SVM.
Theater mode is supposed to give the image a "rich film-like look" and it does.
