I know that this DVD has been delayed, but I got my hands on a copy and decided to give a review for it. (Just in case it is released.) Picture: The movie is presented in 1.85:1 and is 16x9 enhanced. The overall picture is very good. The was a small amount of grain, but nothing to bad. 3.5/4...
I got the DVD last night. It is not a 2-disc. Nor was it priced low. The picture is good but not great. The extras so far are below par. Maybe Disney pulled it because it wasn't living up to the hype.
I love what Fox has done with these DVDs. I will buy whatever they put out. The next wave needs to include: Dragons Forever Wheels on Meals Encounters of the Spooky Kind
Johnathan, Huh? 2.35:1 movies can be in 16:9. Also, the packaging for Black Mask 2 says the movie is in 1.85:1, but the disc is 2.35:1. Also a reviewer over at DVDtalk says in his review that the movie is in 1.85.
I think that everyone here is right about Disney no being the best studio. Yeah they had some very good releases over the last year, but I can think of other studios that had even better releases: New Line- Not only did they give us LOTR: extended, but they went into their vault and brought...
Both Beetlejuice and Spaceballs have the "f" word in there. But here is the real injustice. Rumble in the Bronx is rated R for the "f" word being used once, in a sexual nature, BUT it is inaudible. Here is a timeline of movies that I think got the shaft from the MPAA: 1995: Judge Dredd given...
I just got back from shopping in Chicago and I found the following laserdiscs: Escape from New York: SE $7.99 The Frighteners: CE $39.99 The Killer: Criterion Collection $19.99 Hard Boiled: Criterion Collection $19.99 Lion King: SE $14.99 The Rock: Criterion Collection $19.99 Star Wars...
The Little Guys is great. It's owned by common folk (not a corporation) and they are very friendly and down to earth. They have some really good prices too.
Chuck, Good call on The Fog. I think that it is an incredible movie with some great features. The documentary rocks. But MGM released it, not Fox.(if Fox had released it then the price would have been very high)
I was going through the new issue of EW and i was looking at the dvd slaes chart. They had LotR:EE(wide) at #3, but then at the bottom they had LotR:EE(full) at #9. How is this? New Line only released widescreen. I looked in last week's issue and it said the same thing(different numbers on the...
Well, kinda. My store is running a 20% off boxsets until Dec. 19th. Add that to my employee discount (20%) and I'll get it for just a little over 20 dollars. I don't know if all stores are doing this.
At hollywood video we are getting them in tomorrow. The sale price is $39.99. Take off 20% and it's 31.99. That's only two dollars more than what best buy might have it for and I get it a week early. If you know anyone who works at a hollywood video talk to them. They will be getting the set...
That is not a good idea because you will not always make your money back. Just because it's on half.com or ebay doesn't mean that it's selling out. And that doesn't mean that you'll get that price for it either.
Vince, Go Tigers is already on DVD. I saw it at Best Buy today. I didn't pick it up because I didn't have enough money. I work at Hollywood Video and we got Happy Accidents yesterday. I took it home but have yet to watch it.
I just read over at digital bits that MGM has delayed Escape from New York:SE until December 2003. That's more than a year away. This sucks if it is true.
The title says it all. I bought the movie thinking it was in widescreen because it says that it is in widescreen. I pop it into my player and it's P&S. And not even a good P&S job (like there is one). When they introduce the comic characters you can't even read their names. Columbia/Tristar has...
Thanks Dave for again pointing everyone in the right direction. I thought that you would like to know this though. Jackie Chan's Gen-Y-Cops is only in fullscreen. Universal screwed us on this one.
It's not under the Destination label, but neither were New Fists of Fury, Dragon Fist, To Kill With Intrigue, Fearless Hyena 1 & 2, and many others. In fact all of Jackie Chan's older movies (pre-Young Master) were all handled very well. Now comes this load of BS. I have been waiting for a long...
I just went and bought Spiritual Kung Fu and Shaolin Wooden Men and they are both messed up. Coulumbia has decided to bring us Shaolin Wooden Men in 1.78:1 when the movie was really shot in scope and Spiritual Kung Fu is full screen when the movie was shot in scope. I thought that Columbia was...
Actually you are mistaken. The Unrated version is the theatrical version. As for the differences, they are small and minor. A beer bottle to the head had to be cut to get an R rating. Also the word "cockpouch". The unrated dvd is the only dvd that has the commentary, the rated version doesn't.
As some of you know I work at Hollywood video. This guy comes in one day and rents Dragonfly on dvd. He pays for it and leaves. About five minutes later he comes back in and he is mad. He says that he HATES widescreen because of "them dang black bars" (I live for the time being in Nashville). I...
