Louis: "Is MAN ON THE ROOF the only foreign film ever that was an official sequel to an American major released film(1973's THE LAUGHING POLICEMAN).?" Well, it's based on the book, which was part of a series of ten novels. There was a swedish film from the sixties, "Roseanna", so that would...
Well, it appears the rumour still lives. A big newspaper in Sweden claims Gabriel and Collins will announce a reunion on tuesday in L.A. The early seventies line-up, recreating "The lamb" on tour and a new record in the fall. I don't know if there's any credibility to it, no sources given. I am...
I really like the ending to Queensrÿche's One and only on the Empire album. The guitars are completely repetitive but the bass and drums keeps changing, so it's building to a climax instead of being just repetitive.

Nope, it is the brazilian edition. There are optional english and portugese lyrics. During the songs there are no japanese subs, so it works fine.
The dvd also features pages from a magazine (brazilian, "dvd total" or something like that) with articles and discographies in portugese.
I got the ESL dvd the other day and can add that it was mastered from the JAPANESE laserdisc, so it has the japanese subs burnt in. Those are only on the band´s comments between songs, though. The picture quality wasn´t great but an improvment over my VHS copy. Ditto for the sound.
There's a letter from the movie's writer, Caleb Carr, about this at Jeffrey Well's August 15 column at Movie Poop Shoot. He's mad at Schrader in a private letter to "insiders". He's also mad at Well's for publishing the letter. Apparently he has removed it now.
Well, the thread "Is LOUDER better? " had info on how to restore the clipped peaks. I tried it and it made the distortion disappear. It cannot restore the dynamics, of course, but now it's listenable. I recommend it to those who love the album enough. Try it, it didn't take that long.
