Well I think I'm off the LCD bandwagon. After looking at some calbrated 46" ses including the Sony XBR2 (Bravia? forget the exact model) I'm still not as impressed with them as I was hoping. They really show the compression of DVDs, solorization all over the place. This may in fact show how...
Hi Sarah, You mentioned SD Panny plasma's don't get burn in but HD do? When you say HD you're including both 720p or 1080p? Why would a SD (we're talking 720x480 NTSC?) avoid burn in? I thought burn in would depend on the display type not the resolution? I had an HD CRT rear projector that...
Hi, I was excited to rush to a local dealer and purchase the new 1080p Samsung LCD I have been waiting for! 8ms response, 6000:1 contrast, sounds like a dream! http://www.samsung.com/ca/products/t...s4695dxxaa.asp To start putting it through it's paces I popped in Toy Story 2 which is...
Hi Peter, I had bought some fronts a few years ago which were to be the start of my HT. So they have been used for music like you said and as something better then just TV speakers. Based on the amazing price I was able to get through Amazon, I ordered them there. I've always liked the...
Thanks for the replies on the HKs in Canada. The timing of it being on sale at Future Shop was pretty good. Pretty decent mark up on it to knock off that much for a sale. Well I have made no decisions as I got called out of town for a business trip for a while. I'll do some lurking then pick...
Hi Dan, Thanks for the imput. You confirmed what my gut was telling me but it's always great to hear someone else say the same thing. It's odd what a price difference the HK retails for in the States. Maybe I will pick something up when I'm down there for a trip and bring it back up with me...
Hey Guys, Was wondering if I could use your educated brains for a second. Looking at the two above recievers and wondering what you thought. In the States they price about the same ($300USD) but in Canada where I am buying the HK is double the price $700CAD vs the Yamaha for $350 CAD. 1...
Hey John, Uhhhhhh wow. No I did not know about that Amazon sale and to be honest... That's pretty good. The two items would be $315 CAD on Amazon vs $780 local. Wow. I greatly prefer to buy local but that price difference may sink that idea. Thanks a ton!
Hey folks, man there is soooo much information on these threads that I am a little lost and looking for some opinions. I have a pair of Mission M33s for my fronts which I'v had for a few years, and for my needs I have been quite happy with them. I am looking to finish my home theatre and...
I've had my Hitachi 51UWX20B for over 2 months now and have never noticed any prints. However you guys are talking about the SWX quite a bit that has another layer of antiglare I believe... Coincidence? Peter
Hi Scott, I think the confusion might be in lens size. The SWX and up have larger lenses then the base UWX line of Hitachi HDTVs. The larger lens are supposed to give more detail or something along those lines. Hope that helps. Peter
Michael Fusick, Wow that almost seems too easy. Well since the TV is still under warranty and I wouldn't want to "void" it or anything, I think I'll try and get the techs to look at it first. thanks for attaching that image, what TV are we looking at anyway?
Thanks Mike, Yeah I have Avia and still havn't done a good calibration. Was waiting until the 100+ hrs mark and am probably passing the 200. The Hitachi sets do have a 117 point convergence grid that you can manually tweak. I wasn't able to improve on the "magic focus" (automated...
Christo, Welcome to my world. I have a Hitachi 51UWX20B for the past month now and also get a slight blue halo effect on anything with a heavy black/white contrast. So text can have it or someone backlit causing a silouette. I didn't know if it was a defect, breaking in issue, or RPTV...
Hi there, Last Saturday I recieved a Hitachi 51UWX20B and a Panny RP62 progressive player. I am pleased with the picture as it is leaps and bounds better then what I previously had. I had noticed some bleed, colours not as sharp and was hoping the component cables I had on order would fix...
Matthew, I was wondering if you would share your settings for your TV in a dark environment? I got good component cables last night and it made a huge difference on the reds. However I'm noticing a blue halo. if I pull up the convergence grid for example I can see a slight blue bleed on hard...
Michael, actually I havn't been in the tweaks section. So used to reading up on displays and video devices havn't looked around the site too much. I'll try your settings. James, hey that wasn't there last week. I'm suprised the canadian site had it up first.
Frank, I'm not with the set right now, I couldn't take to work much to my dismay. But here's the specs I had from before. width: 48.75 depth: 25.06 height: 50.13 The top is also a decent depth, enough to hold a DVD player easily just fyi. Peter
Hi Steve, Well I didn't look at the SWX too much, the extra money for it didn't leave much consideration. I looked at the UWX, was pleased with the picture, and knew when I got good cables and good calibration it would be better. I just bought/moved into my first home 5 weeks ago and ain't...
Well as the thread states I got new TV. Since others put in their thoughts I will share mine so far. I got it Yesterday morning at 10am. Nothing like being awakened by delivery men saying "We're here with your TV." I'm not a seasoned vet so don't know what to tell you guys. Got a new Panny...
man you guys are driving me nuts. I ust bought a Hitachi 51UWX20B and went to buy the DVD player... I couldn't remember if I had decided on the RP62 or RP82. Can't we get a concensus here of the better unit! Ack! Must... Buy... New... PLayer... MUST!
Let me throw in a request. I hear a lot more people talking about purchasing the SWX over the UWX. I'm looking into getting the UWX, but convince me why I'd be a fool not to get the SWX if you guys think that's a significantly better set. I don't want to make a larger purchase then regret not...
Keith,
I saw the 51UWX20B and 51SWX20B on the weekend and I think I'm sold. The SWX is probably out of my price range so I'm going with the UWX. I didn't do anything much to test the unit, just the overall impression I have of unit was quite good on the floor. I'm going to go back in with some...
Bob, thanks again! I can't believe the pricing on the cables and you're saying Canare and Belden are very good. You weren't kidding at all when you said under $100. So if these are very decent cables, what justifies $150+ cables by other manufactures?
You know what bob.. You just said "the stuff production studios use" and well... I work in a production studio. For any of our VTRs we use BNCs for composites but some of the techs here might be able to help me out. And ontop of that you gave me names and links. It's always hard to price or look...
This may be a vauge question but its time to buy some decent composite cables and I'm wondering what I should look for or if you have any recomendations. Other then the facter silver and gold conduct better then copper and thicker is better, what should I look for? Plus if anyone has any...
