I don't know why, but I never really was a big fan of SDOIT, just never clicked on me. It's 3rd tier for me with FII. WDADU jumps into the 2nd tier for me just because it was their first effort, so new to me when I first heard it. Also 2nd tier are 8V, ToT, & ACOS. 1st Tier are Awake, I&W, and SFAM.

Recently I baught a Gary Fisher Zebrano for less than $500 and I am quite happy with it. It is a hybrid, meaning that it is similar to mountain bikes, but with a little skinnier tires and a more upright seating position for more commuting comfort. As far as the disc brake debate goes...well...

While neither a road bike or a mountain bike, I recently picked up a Gary Fisher Zebrano (hybrid) for a little over $400 and am very happy with it. I road various MTBs over the years and the tires and position of the hybrid make riding to work and hitting the local trails much more enjoyable.
