I recently moved into a new/used home and the in wall multi room speaker configuration jacks are unlike anything I've seen before. What it looks like the previous owner/installer did was, inside the wall from the speaker wires to the wall jack, run a positive wire to the signal side of the rca...
I've heard the PDR 10 and the Paradigm model above it. In one word I'd describe them as "slow". I demo'd a techno cd on it and it was way behind. You may not listen to techno, but this is a good test. For the money, Maple or American, you could find something better.
Okay, here's something you can try that most likely won't kill you or anyone around you. Anywhere that you split cable tv lines, you open yourself up to some kind of hum. Why? I don't know, but, I do know one thing... Ground it! It's really quite simple. On a splitter there's usually a grounding...
I agree with Mike D. I had the same problem with the hz/khz thing and was going crazy wondering why things wouldn't change when I conducted freq. readings. This is one of the first things you should check before you go any further. Also, you really need to be in front of the BFD when reading the...
I just purhcased a 1500A Sherbourn amp rated at 5x200w. My previous system was running an Odyssey Stratos for the fronts and a Parasound 855a for the rears. I have the Sherbourn hooked up to my Outlaw 950 now, but in order to reach the same db level as my previous setup with the...
Birdseye Maple always looks awesome and you've certainly proved that to the utmost. What did you use to cut your tweeter hole as well as your woofer hole? Beautiful job, Darren. I strive to reach your level of craftsmanship!
I've never been one to cut through structural entities, but if you're friend is sure it's okay... Just make sure the manifold rests on the rafters at all times and not the sheetrock. It only takes a second for it to go crashing through your ceiling! Good luck.
Timbre matching fronts are pretty important, however you don't need to stick just to a Paradigm sub. There are plenty of subs out there that will outperform the 2200 for cheaper. I don't have one, but the enthusiasm of all the SVS owners (seems to be milliions) seems to point out that this is a...
How much did you get the PS1000 for? As a Paradigm owner, I think you could get a better sub for the money. My roommate had a PS1000 and it was slow and bloated IMO.
I'm sure either will work for this size room. Also, it doesn't matter what side of the room you are using because you will have to pressurize the whole room unless you have a way to seal off one leg of the "L". If it were me, I'd say screw it and get the biggest sucker you can afford. Nothing...
I think we'd be much better with a measure in cubic ft. instead. Here's an example: 300 sq. ft x 8 ft. ceiling = 2400 cu. ft 300 sq. ft x 10 ft. ceiling = 3000 cu. ft 300 sq. ft x 12 ft. = 3600 cu. ft Quite a difference...
I will be moving at the end of this month and unfortunately can't bring this amp with me. Amp is 1 year old and is in excellent condition. Not a single scratch on it. Rarely used in small HT room as I have been constantly traveling on business. This is priced to sell and I will e-mail pictures...
Screw the cat! What's it gonna say? Turn it down? As for the fiance, that's a different story. Send her shopping for a couple hours... shopping for munchies for tonights game!:emoji_thumbsup:
I have dual Tempests in a Infinite Baffle setup and I've played sine waves down to 13hz on an NCH tone generator and became very worried about the structural integrity of my house. The house is late 70's and the room is above the garage so it's basically "floating". The "rumble" it produced has...
No BS... These amps are very good. Using one to power dual Tempests in an IB config and the necessary power is there. It was between this amp and a Parts Express amp, and for the money vs. power ratio I'd go with this one.
I completed my IB finally and I must say, "Damn!" The bass that I have created is nothing short of the best I've heard ever. I'm not usually an over enthusiastic person, but there are things an IB setup can do that no enclosure based sub can even gets close to. I haven't taken measurements yet...
Dan, I'm also from San Diego and if you want to listen to some Paradigm's, go to Sound Company on Sports Arena blvd. In my current system I have a Paradigm Studio CC with all Paradigm surrounds. My mains used to be Studio 80's, but I've since gotten into building my own speakers. If you like...
I finished my IB last Saturday and the design is similar to Rich's. I would build the manifold to accomodate the other two drivers you plan to add in the future. As has been said, build the box as short as possible (read: cube) to avoid any unwanted cancellation and vibration. Also, I would...
