Actually Ry Cooder played all the blues parts during the movie. He also played all of the ending parts when they were cuttin heads. William Kassinger (I think that's how you spell it) played all the classical stuff in the movie besides the very final classical part Macchio played (Vai played...
I don't think we will ever be able to directly compare the two formats. There just seem to be too many variables. I will say that I love dvd-a. I remember when it first came out how happy I was about everything but the ability to play them in my car. Great recordings but lack of compatibility...
I am also only interested in the Hound of the Baskervilles. It's a shame this won't get a full restoration. To me, it's vastly superior to the other films. Jon
My biggest problem with the tw pvr is the fact that you can't do keyword searches. I'd gotten so used to typing in "egypt" in my 501. A few seconds later many titles with egypt as the keyword would pop up. It's gotten to the point where I might go back the dish because of this. Jon
I've often thought that audio drama would be great on dvd-audio or multichannel sacd. I'm a big radio drama fan and I'd love to hear new productions done in multichannel sound.
It's a really good short series that aired in America on the scifi channel I think. I'm sure it's a british production. I remember loving it when I first saw it. Jon
MPI will release The Hound of The Baskervilles in January. The Sign of the Four and The Eiligible Bachelor in February. The Master Blackmailer in March and they will begin the Return of Sherlock Holmes in June. More info can be found here

I'd be interested to know what people thought of these new Dan Curtis dvd releases. I really love the Palance Jekyll and Hyde and the version of Dracula he did.
Just wanted to mention that Michael Caine's Jekyll and Hyde is out on dvd. I think Platinum released it. I wish someone would release Jack the Ripper with Caine in ntsc. I've been wearing my pal copy up.
I'd like to throw my support behind the idea of having a regular dvd version on the HD discs at the beginning. What I've learned from the sacd dvd-audio war is that if dvd-audio discs would have had a cd layer, the war would be over. Sony promised us hybrid discs but has not delivered. Putting...
Apparently Kasdan doesn't like Wyatt Earp and he says he shouldn't have made it. I can't understand why. I think Wyatt Earp is excellent and it should be released in a special edition.
Having used both Sirius and XM, to me Sirius sounds much better. They also have 3 satellites instead of 2 so they can cover more territory with less repeaters.
I meant that I thought the release of From Hell would get Anchor Bay to move the release date up instead of having to wait to 2003. Sorry about the confusion.
I don't see where dvd+r is more compatible since no one I know has actually seen a blank disc. As far as I'm concerned dvd-r/rw is the way to go. They're cheap and the work in most standalone players.
Why is it gimmickry to have instruments coming from all sides? Who says we're supposed to hear music just from the front? I never will understand this argument. DVD-Audio and SACD gives to the artist far more control over how their art is distributed. If Sting wants to immerse you in sound why...
This supposedly great bbc adaption came out a few months ago on dvd in pal format. Just wondering what everyone's thoughts were. I'm thinking of buying a malata dvd player just so I can watch this film plus maybe the Michael Caine Jack the Ripper. Damn it where are the ntsc versions!
