Ryan, When you say,"until the tv is turned on", do you mean when you switch to that input or do you mean when the tv is turned on it causes hiss even when listening to some other source. ie..cd, tuner..anything non-video. The hiss is probably caused by processing. Try turning off pro-logic on...
Can anyone recommend an ISF certified Calibrationist in West Texas area? I sell/install theaters in that area and have acessed the service menus, but havent tried changing anything. Our tech 'adjusts' some of the really bad sets, but I think he does more harm than good. Christopher

I have used Da-Lite's High-Contrase DA-MAT screen in several theaters and it performs wonderfully. It improves black level nicely. I would only feel safe using gray screens with higher brightness projectors (900 & up). Christopher R.
You may want to consider an LCD projector. I personally have used the Sony VPL-VW12Ht with Da-Lite's High-contrast DA-MAT screen in several theaters and have been very impressed with it's performance. It has 1000 ANSI lumens and a contrast ratio of 1000:1. It doesn't have the eye fatigue...
