The last episode of Season 7 was just a brilliant episode: very funny and very creative. The symmetry between the characters George/Amanda on "Seinfeld" and Larry/Cheryl on Curb was amazing, and executed perfectly. The word genius has been applied to Larry David many times and it's apt; you can...
I thought Richard Kind (Cousin Andy) was in great form during The Black Swan episode. I agree with Brian's comments about how funny the black swan attack sequence was, and then the discussion afterward. Subsequent to that, there was a brilliant and hysterical scene where the criminal gang...
I guess I'm the minority here, but I have found Dexter Season 4 to be sub-par at best. The last episode opens up some great new possibilities for the rest of the season, but, up until now, the show has been a somewhat pale imitation of its best years (1 and 2).
For instance, episode 4: the...
Can anybody confirm whether these are the original-length cuts of the episodes or not? One review site noted that the episodes are 19 or 20 minutes long on this DVD set, which doesn't sound quite right.
Yes, they probably re-enacted that (grabbing the idol inside the tree). No big deal. Makes perfect sense and doesn't harm any reality aspect of the show whatsoever.
Russell did say he does not care about the money (he is a multi-millionaire); he did say he wants to win the game, however. I thought the second episode was quite good. Russell appeared more "normal"; he didn't really cause any chaos this time. I also agree that a "narrative" is created...
Ron: What do you mean by "scripted to a small extent"? Do you think the producers manipulate things in the voting such that certain people stay? Something like that?
As far as I'm concerned, Russell is an unfortunate aspect of reality TV these days. That is, in order to gain viewers and create...
Ron: You should be able to drag any file or folder to the dock, but it has to be to the far right side (near the trash icon). The left side is for applications only; the right side is for files and folders. Perhaps you were trying to drag the Documents folder to the left side of the dock?
I generally Command-click links as well, but not always. In any event, the back button should work if one is not using Command-click (tabs). I have noticed recently that this issue is not exclusive to HTF; I have started to see it occuring with other sites as well.
Long-time Mac user here and I'm having the same issue as Daryl. In fact, I can see that (fairly recently) virtually all HTF forum threads open with the "load" symbol constantly spinning in the browser tab. This presumably means that the page is never fully loaded. (That spinning symbol exists as...
I'm not sure if this comment helps, but in line with Ron's statement that a Mac Pro will last you through "the next few years," that might even be an understatement, as per the following: I've been using a G4 (dual-867 with 1.75 GB ram) since I purchased this machine in September of 2002 and...
Patrick, You can do this if you set the encoding to MP3 and use either of the two following applications to combine the separate files: Rejoiner: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/23564 or MP3 Trimmer (a great app; trims files but also has a join function)...
DaveF: Although I've rarely used a Windows computer and therefore I am only slightly familiar with the "Start" menu, here is how you can create a similar feature in OSX that is completely customizable and requires no hacks or applications. It simply uses folders and aliases. It is similar...
I have this disc and I get the same thing: you cannot pause, nor can you change the audio without going to the menu section. If I press stop, however, it will resume from the previous position when I press play again. I think this is just how the disc was authored.
Queen Street Video is probably your best option; they are also (easily) the cheapest in terms of rental for TV sets, as well. However, I think that you may be out-of-luck in terms of non-HBO TV sets, like Sanford and other older shows. I don't think there are any places that rent them all out.
Like PaulP, I don't watch any TV at this point (excepting Family Guy). I watch my shows (for the most part) on DVD and enjoy it that way much better. I have somewhat similar tastes and I would highly recommend The Wire; the 1st Season is excellent. I've avoided Season 3 of Six Feet Under...
Season 5 (of the funniest show that's ever been on television) is definitely happening, but it will most likely be the last season. In a previous thread on Curb, I provide a link to an article (which came out at the beginning of Season 4) indicating that Larry "sees the end of Curb in sight."...
I thought Carnivale (especially the first season) was a superb show but I'll be in the drastic minority here (I guess) in saying that I felt that the show had a fairly "natural" conclusion as well. Since day one, Carnivale was about the eventual battle between Ben and Brother Justin and the...
I agree with Matt about the "pure comedic genius" of Larry David. An important note to add, though: Season 5 of Curb will probably be the end of the series. I get this from the comments Larry made in the following article, which was published just as Season 4 started...
I got into Jackie Chan films in the mid-90s and saw pretty well all of his stuff through VHS rentals back then. Though the stories are lacking a lot of the time, I find the power of the fighting and action sequences to be exhilirating when he's at his best. Much like Jeffrey Nelson's post above...
When TV-on-DVD started to become increasingly popular, my TV watching dropped considerably. First, I stopped watching syndicated reruns in anticipation of DVD releases and it has worked out great for a number of shows (including Frasier and Seinfeld). I am surprised that anybody would watch...
Though I haven't gotten as far as Jaime, and the commentaries, etc., may contribute to clarifying the writing process on Seinfeld, the following should be kept in mind: As far as my research indicates, if an episode of Seinfeld is credited as "written by Larry Charles," that is not entirely...
Some UK reviews of the Seinfeld DVD sets are online. Here are two: http://www.dvdanswers.com/index.php?...einfeld&c=1120 and http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=13094 In the DVD Times review, I have to say that I strongly disagree with the odd comments in the...
