I am still waiting to purchase a set-top dvd recorder however I own several pc dvd burners and I have always had great success with Ritek dvd-r/rw. There is a very reliable site called Rima that sells these disks for a very good price. Most of the people over at Doom9, which is a good site for...
I believe the only real reason that 5.1 encoded sound can not be transferred to the recorder is to discourage any piracy of commercial content like movie and concert dvds. However I agree with some of the other posts that this is a severe limitation for such an expensive device and IMHO unfairly...
I've read at a couple of HT forums that the new Denon 5900 (I think thats the model number) is the holy grail of dvi connected dvd players. The only drawback is it goes for $2000.
Since playing with the unit to find out whats wrong I discovered that the dvd player isn't the only device its not processing. My Tivo and vcr (which are hooked up through analog connections) cut in and out as well when trying to play back in DPLII. I'm really surprised that 1 of Denon's...
I was playing a dvd when all of the sudden the sound cut out for a second and then resumed. I rev the dvd to see if it was the dvd and the sound was present at the same spot it cut out on. I ignored it as a fluke but it happened several more times with more than 1 dvd. I checked all the...
I can't attest to the quality or the ease of use of these players (I've never used them), but just doing a quick google search turned up xine and maximus.
Why not just add an amp to your 4802 set-up. I have the same receiver and I found a Parasound 2205at open box sale and it gave the 4802 all the power it needed to bring my system alive.
Thanks for the response Rob....I probably didn't explain myself well. This analog connection is for the purpose of monitoring the digital connection. I had already configured the sound card to send and receive digital signals and I tested it by sending signals to my receiver and then back into...
Rob... There is a analog connection that I use to monitor the sound going in to the card and it sounds okay when I send a digital signal through it. However when I play back the same signal after recording it, the sound is equivalent to an mp3 at the lowest bitrate. I'm now in the process of...
I purchased a C Media sound card mainly to be able to pass a digital signal out to my receiver, but I was also interested in passing a digital signal back into the cards optical input to record music for mp3 mixes. When I tried this (using the recording program that comes with the card) the...
Well I did a search on the Oxford911 chipset and it seems that this chipset is made to address the 137Gb limit in the Win OS. I also found that another chipset called Ali does the same and the drive enclosures sell for a few $$ less. I guess my new question is the Oxford911 chipset worth...
Thanks you guys... I appreciate the helpful tips for a search. I've done business with newegg before so I'll try there first. Michael*K... Pardon my ignorance, but why do you like the Oxford911 chipset?
I have an extra WD180Gb hard drive that I would like to hook up to my PC through either a firewire or usb 2.0 connection. I know there are external cases made that can be used for this purpose but all my searches turn up expensive options costing $80 and up. Does anyone know where to find...
Whenever I hack into my tivo or replay and they're down for a day or two, the vcrs actually get some use. Other than that they make good clocks. As for my vcr tapes.... they make good stocking stuffers for friends and family who ask...What is a DVR?
For the dvd players that I own (aiwa, jvc, panasonic) it seems that the -R media works on all, while the +R works on the last 2 only. This can obviously differ from player to player, but the cheapest players (in my experience) seem to have the greatest flexibility for some reason. I run 2 pcs...
Mark.. I recently purchased the C Media Sound card from newegg.com for all of $20. It does 5.1 (analog) as well as optical in/out. The optical out is great, especially if you have a modest stereo that takes that connection. The optical in is not that good and the analog out is so/so, but for...
Julian, I can't help you with your HP question (I build my own PCs - so I never had that problem) but as for as your xp question.... Just buy the upgrade version of xp. Since you own Win98, when you do a clean install the xp installer will ask you to place your original Win98 disc in so...
Juan... I thought I recognized those divas. I demoed them with "The Fast and the Furious" dvd at your spot if you remember. Damn, I wish I had offered you $1500 back then before I picked up my current set. I'm jealous of whoever gets them now. Be Cool Man!
You might want to try "vobedit". Its been awhile since I've used that program but I think it can do what your looking for. It, or a link to it, can be found at vcdhelp.com.
The packet writing software that comes bundled with the sony does suck and it has been found to cause conflicts with other dvd writing, authoring software. I only installed nero and powerdvd and everything works fine for me. And like Ken said, use +-/rw. Make sure you project works first...
