I would like to know peoples thoughts on this subject. I was at a music store the other day, and I was listening to some monitors in their recording / production room. The monitors were M-Audio BX8A. I thought they sounded amazing for the price,($499) and the more that I started thinking about...
So my brother in law wants a DIY tempest(its what I have, and he likes the sound and output)So as soon as he gets the sub, we are going to start building a box for it. The question I have though...Can he stick the box in a coat closet that is just to the left of his TV? The closet has one of...
Hi all, I am not sure if this is in the right forum or not, but here goes: My friend and I were thinking of opening a small HT store, but there are alot of things I have to research first. Does anyone have an idea of how much money it would take to do this? Or how much equipment you must...
Bigger cable = less resistance. Bigger cable doesnt mean better sound quality. Better constructed cables or cables made of better materials mean better sq. Just because you use 12ga over 14ga, does NOT mean its going to sound BETTER. A jump to a larger cable will not sound better...
Here are some more specs on the tables. STR8-100/ST-100 Who says you can't teach an OLD dog NEW tricks?!?!…Can your turntable do this? Play forward & reverse with the same amount of torque even at speeds up to 45 & 78 rpm? Allow you to plug directly into ANY mixer without a phono in or...
I have two brand new Stanton STR8-100 turntables for sale. I used then in my bedroom only a couple of times, and they are in PERFECT condition, but unfortunately, I have to sell them. Asking $300 per table.
They are in an Orion custom made bandpass enclosure, which, believe it or not actually has good sound quality. You may have seen the box before, mostly charcoal carpet with a smooth black front panel area where the port it, and same finish on the sides...also has a small Orion logo on the...
Two 12" Orion XTR's with Orion box -$270 One Kicker Solobaric L5 10" - brand new $140 Trades are welcome...mainly Home theater stuff , but let me know what you got. [email protected] Nate
Does your reciever have pre-amp level outputs? If so, I would probably buy a separate amp if you had the cash. ALthough, keep in mind that I do not have rockets....its just a preference of mine to have the mains on a seperate amp.:)
I own a Yamaha reciever, and the Nad player was hooked up to a Nad reciever, so I didnt get to hear it on my reciever, but I have done other comparisons with the same reciever/different cd and dvd players, and I have found that the cd player usually sounds better. And it was through a Optical cable.
Because random play really sucks with dvd players.....especially when you watch the first 5 minutes of a movie, and then it switches to another one.:D :D
Many people think that a cd player sounds better than dvd players that play cd's. I have not done that many comparisons, but with my little bit of experience on the matter, I would have to agree. I recently listened to a NAD cd player, and it was amazing. I dont think my panny rv-32...
OK, so I have had this player for about a year and a half or so, and for the most part, I have been happy with it. Then, recently, I started listening to music a lot more in my home, and I noticed that there was some noise in it, although it was not really noticeable, as I was running some...
Cool, thanks for all the opinions....I am picking up the speakers tomorrow, so I will see how they sound, but I think I still want to upgrade to separates anyway. Keep the suggestions coming. -Nate
Would Rotel, Outlaw, NAD, Adcom or some other brand be a better choice? Or are they all pretty much within the same bracket when it comes to performance and sound quality?
What about a pair of Parasound HCA1201A monoblocks? Would that be a decent way to go to power my mains? Anyone use these, or have any problems with them?
If I could get an amp for $200 I would be extremely happy. Although, I know that may not happen. Basically, I am a little new to the whole "separates" thing, so I am not up to date on the prices of all the pre's and amps and what not. If I was to get a 7.1 pre/pro, and a 2 channel amp for...
The Focals are 8 ohm, 91db sensitivity. I believe in extra power, and plenty of head room. I would want at LEAST 125 watts, but if I could get 200, that would be fantastic.
About what price range do these start at? I want to upgrade. I am buying a new set of Focal mains, and I need some more power. :) What are your recommendations? I dont want to spend a fortune here.
Jeran, You should find a store that carries the Focal/JMLab brand of home audio speakers. I was very surprised at how great the chorus line sounded. You can get the new 714s for $800 brand new. And they will sound even better after break in. Also listen to the B&W 602, 602.5, 603...
