A Tale of Two Sisters was a fantastic horror film, judging from this trailer the remake doesn't keep much of the plot of the original. Go see the original if you can, you'll be glad you did...
Wheel of Time would work better in a series format like "Rome", the story is so vast and rich that a movie wouldn't do it justice. I don't see this coming very soon though, the last book still has to be released (next year probably).
Johnny Guitar was recently released in R2 by Paramount, it still has the Republic Pictures logo on the dvd case so that would mean it's still part of the Republic Pictures library. BTW, the picture quality of the film on dvd is very good...
I saw this again for the second time in 1 week on dvd. What a great film this is. I agree with Michael that the fractured timeline works very well. It fits very well with wat Edith Piaf says at the end of the film, that her memories fade, and the things she did remember were not the most joyous...
I was in the same position as yourself only a few weeks ago, since my old CRT just gave up I was looking for a new TV. I finally decided on the Panasonic 42" plasma. Plasma is still better for fast moving images (games or sports) and the colours are so much better then any LCD can produce...
Robert Jordan's "Wheel of Time" books, a miniseries will probably be better since the scope is so big... More of Howard Carter's "Conan the Barbarian" ! Orscon Scott Card's "Ender" books (especially Speaker of the Dead !) A biopic based on Hannibal Barcas (the general from Carthago)...
It would have been nice if they mentioned the subtitles available on each dvd ! The http://www.foxstudioclassics.co.uk website is rather thin on information about each dvd.
WB paid 40 million $ for North American rights of Alexander, about the same as for Terminator 3. The rest is financed by Intermedia (which also sold of other territories). It looks like Alexander isn't going to do big business but it won't be so very painful for WB execs.
Most recordings on dvd are not older then 1980, for obvious reasons: video quality and mono soundtrack. There are some good labels which provide good video and audio quality, check out the catalog of: http://www.deutschegrammophon.com/ Their dvd's are usually R0 and NTSC...

I can recommend anything from the Arthaus label www.arthaus-musik.com They have some good historical recordings (always good video and audio!) and their recent recordings are 16:9 with 5.1 surround sound. I already have several of their dvd's in my collection. I must point out though that...
I have the R2 Annie (not the SE, which is also available), the transfer isn't spectacular but decent. Extras are thin with trailer, photos and filmographies but it does have an isolated music score which the SE doesn't have. And it's in Widescreen :D
I can't believe they are remaking The Changeling !? A Tale of Two Sisters sounds very interesting. Are "Nameless" and "Darkness" any good ? I'm not into gore/slasher stuff but more into psychological horror and haunted house movies.
The R2 version isn't spectacular, sometimes lot's of grain is noticeable but it certainly is decent, besides the grain I'm quite happy with it. Never tried the R1 version though.
