Duke,
Maybe 99.99 is a bit of an exaggeration , but I havent had any good experiences with retail chain salesman. Just got burned to the tune of $180 recently because of BB terrible customer service attitude and a misinformed/lying? salesman. But regardless of that I have met VERY few...
Some very important things I have learned in my short 26 years: most stereotypes are true, most salesman aren't, and if you want good service you are going to pay for it.
AND, if you dont like dealing with obnoxious people spending their hard earned money, find another profession.
I can...
I'll jump in the fire with Justin on this one. I think soldering is preferable , however it is not as easy as putting a wire into a connector and squeezing. I competely agree with you Justin that this has become somewhat of a lost art. The only people who use solder are the ones who have to...
The Tripplite Isobar6DBS has 2 pairs coax, phone line, and noise filtering. Its a very good unit. And it also has $50,000 in equipment protection.
William, the problem with using ups is they usually are not rated for high wattage applications. The unit you have is rated at 500watts output, my...
I have to agree with JohnS on this issue, when it comes down to the 1's and 0's, it doesn't matter whether its data or audio, it still 1's and 0's. Where the problem comes in like John said is when the digital signal is converted to analog. New and better ways have been developed to do this, but...
All of you in Canada, I just found this on one of my marathon surf sessions. They lisr as being an independent stocking dealer of Canare, Belden , and numerous other companies.

Right Bob, it is primarily applied to Cat5 cable ,but the same pricipal should be true for any cable carrying a digital signal. Though Im not stating this as fact, just passing on info that I think is accurate. You may be right though in that it may not apply in this particular case...
I work in the IT dept of a large investment bank and I checked with one of our telecom techs and there is a technical reason for the 1 meter minimum. Please forgive me if this is not a great explanation, I understand the concept but not sure how to explain it. He said it has to do with feedback...
Any cable carrying a digital signal should be at least 1 meter. That includes optical cables like Andrew said. The reason for this has to do with interference, although I am not familiar with the technical reasoning behind it. Also Im not sure this would apply to coax. It is fairly cheap cable...
I have not had any experience with saunas so I cant say definitivly, but Pioneer and Infinty make very good marine speakers designed to withstand saltwater and other harsh conditions. It might be worth checking into.

I'm not trying to insult anybody, only trying to give another perspective to the question asked. After all, isnt that what having a FORUM is about? And nobody here has ever inflated a product because of their own opinion have they!
Not to say that brickwall isn't a quality product but I have used Tripplite for years and never had a problem. And for less than $100 you can get 6 outlets, 2 coax, and phone line protection, plus $50,000 in equipment damage coverage.

I have to agree with Dan on this one, Ive got the VSX33 and it sounds great for music and HT. If you dont like these I would also consider Marant SR7200/8200. They sound great too.
Take away the digital filters and its a glorified powerstrip. Check out tripplite here. Just as good IMO and less than half the cost. Isobar6 DBS rates very wellhttp://www.lashen.com/vendors/Trippl...e/av_surge.asp
Would definitely like to hear about the Pioneer set as I am looking at replacing my 27" microscreen. And I TOTALLY feel your pain about BB... had a REALLY bad experience so I found some place else to shop.
Having the caps sealed is important even for ported designs because air leaking could cause wave cancellation. If the caps are glued and screwed caulk probably isnt going to help much. Personally I would use wood glue to seal the caps, it gives a much better seal, but get it right the first time...
I have Energy XL25 towers for L/R, XL15's for surrounds, room not big enough for dipoles! and XL-C center channel. They are great sounding speakers IMO especially in their price range. I think Athena and Paradigm present a better overall soundstage but if you are looking for a good buy Energy is...
As long as the receiver can handle a 6ohm load, most can go down to 4, its not going to hurt anything. With the levels matched you shouldnt be able to tell the difference unless you are a very picky listener.
