Just wanted to clarify...the Thai dvd is the ONLY version that has English (even though it's the dub) AND is UNCUT. As of right now, there isn't an uncut version that also has english subtitles. From what I've heard, the cuts are in all the gore scenes, probably cutting away quickly instead...
Christopher - if you don't mind dubbing on this movie, there is a thai dvd out that is uncut.. but it has Thai audio and english audio only, no original French. Seeing as how it's not exactly a dialogue-driven film, the dubbing didn't bother me too much (and I am NO fan of dubbing to begin...
Not sure if you guys know this, but Harry Knowles from aintitcool.com is doing one of the commentaries on the upcoming set, which will then be subtitled in korean! So you can count on at least one commentary you can follow, even if it isn't from the filmmakers..
I saw Shore conduct this last Saturday night in Atlanta, and it was FANTASTIC! Do not pass this up if you are the least bit interested.. it was something truly special. Alan Lee happened to be there as well and was brought out during the standing ovations at the end. Shore seemed to really enjoy...
This was posted earlier this morning on the boards over at www.theonering.net: Yesterday, someone at this board posted about a Danish newspaper interview (in Politiken) where PJ said that the EE dvd of RotK would be "longer than 4 hours and 50 minutes". Since I'm Swedish, I could read the...
On the front page of www.chud.com right now, there is an interview with Peter Jackson, and he seems to indicate that the longest real cut he worked with was 4h15m... maybe someone heard him wrong and transcribed it as 50 instead of 15?
You can go to www.tranexp.com:2000 and scroll all the way down, and it will translate from Danish. I read thru it and see where it does say 4h50m... and I have read from other sources in the last couple of days that the first cut was "well over 4 1/2 hours". This will be fantastic news if true...
Not sure if anyone mentioned it yet, but this can be ordered at Walmart.com for $9.98 plus $2.98 shipping. They started shipping them yesterday.. I tried to post a link but I haven't reached my 15 posts yet, so you guys will have to find it yourself! :)
Don't think this has been mentioned yet: Another good reason for using any of this software to track your collection is for insurance purposes. I remember reading a month or two ago that someone's collection had been stolen in a burglary, and he was able to use his DVD Profiler list as the...
Yes, the Special Edition does indeed have the chronological cut of the movie, accessible thru a series of crazy menu prompts. It even starts with the credits going backwards :D
Lam - If you live near a circuit city, then you can get a 51S500 for a GREAT price.. less than what they are asking for the F500, a inferior set. Definitely go for the S500 series, I just got one myself (the 57") this week and love it, and yes the stretch modes are MUCH better, I don't even...
You can get the Hitachi for MUCH less than that price. Email me at noirATknology.net and I will let you know who to call. And don't worry, it is a BIG national chain, not some fly-by-night operation. I am having a 57S500 delivered today, and it was a few hundred less than what you're quoting...
Mark - you can still copy and paste the text. Just highlight it and press CONTROL-C to copy it, then hop over to babelfish and paste. All their code does is block right-clicking of the mouse... Unfortunately even after translation this page doesn't shed any other useful info on the release...
I remember reading several months ago that Henry Hill, the real-life counterpart to Ray Liotta's character in GOODFELLAS, was on Howard Stern and mentioned he had just finished recording a commentary for a new GOODFELLAS dvd... That should be one interesting commentary!! Now if only Scorsese...
