Some good comments here. I was an early adaptor of DVD (1998) and of an HD set (2001). As such, I only have one set of HD component inputs on my set, and no HDMI. So, I'm already running into a legacy connectivity issue, but that's not really a fault of the formats. Price: $1k for a BD...
Alex, I base my opinion on the sonic similarities of the MC-402 and MC-252 on my side-by-side observations of the MC-402/202. They were so close sonically that the MC-252 could not be far behind the MC-402. McIntosh will likely tell you the same thing. The MC-402 did have a slightly wider...
I own the MC-402, it was an upgrade from my MC-202 about one year ago. IMO, the MC-402 is overkill for your situation. Sure, it will make your speakers sound AMAZING! However, $5000 is no chump change, and you realize that you'd need to spend a lot more on source components, speakers, pre-amp...
In my main 5.1 system, I am currently using: Pre-amps Lexicon DC-1 V4 Sony TAP-9000ES Amps McIntosh MC-402 Anthem MCA-5 mkII I will probably replace the Lex/Sony pre-amp combo when something good comes along with Firewire/HDMI inputs for hi-rez.
I vote Hi-Def. You have a good TV, no reason to watch crummy standard TV. In fact, you many find regular TV looked better on your old set. Step up to the HD plate!
Wayde_R, Although I'm not 100% familiar with the PC software you mentioned, I don't believe it has HAVi capability. From www.mitsubishi-tv.com
Dave, if you really want to to an HTPC, IMO, you should just buy a video card with DVI output, and connect to your 65813 in that manner.
Firewire can support 1080i easily. Your PC may not talk to your TV unless it has HAVi or other interface that the TV can recognize. The connection may be right, but the "language" might be all wrong.
Ricky, You've found one of the few flaws with the XP30/50 design. Forget about reading the display. I just set the dimmer to "Off" in the menu and it only lights up when powered on.
Ricky, I'm really leaning towards keeping the Lex a while longer and adding something like this: http://www.stevehoffman.tv/forums/sh...tage+yesterday Scroll down a bit for external/internal pictures of this handmade pre-amp. I'm really trying to squeeze the last bit of stereo...
Ricky, I think I forgot about you getting the Aragon. Do you still have the Rogue? You got me hooked on Lexicon, you know? It will be hard to break away, as I feel you can really dial it in. The biggest upgrade for me was moving to a house finally. Even in the house I am 5.1 with Nautilus...
Hey there, Ricky! Your system not changing much in 1 & 1/2 years?!?! Wait, when did the aliens take Ricky away? :D Current system is "maxed out" with B&W Nautilus 802s powered by McIntosh MC402 400watt X 2 amp, XA777ES SACD, Sony TAP9000ES analog preamp and the "trusty" Lexicon DC-1 V4...
John Kotches, At one time, you stated that Sony was using DSD DSP to accomplish the very things you say they can't do. See your quote here: http://db.audioasylum.com/cgi/m.pl?f...+C555&session= As for NDA, it depends on how detailed you want to go. Here is Sony information not...

Hey Ricky, The HD200 has DVI if that matters to you. It also has more stretch modes if memory serves. From my experience, I'd stay away from used HD boxes in this price range. If you're gonna drop that kind of $$, you should stick with something new as HD boxes seem to have more glitches...
Hi, Today I am offering up for sale my brand-new-still-sealed-in-a-box Denon DVD-1600 model progressive scan DVD-V/A player. For those that follow A/V products you know that this model is ranked as one of the very best 480p models ever produced. It has the highest score in the respected...
I have both. It boils down to this IMO: Do you watch a lot of video-based material, i.e. concert DVDs, TV shows on DVD or similar? Get the DVD1600. Do you watch a lot of 4:3 material or older released DVDs that are non-anamorphic widescreen? Keep the Panny for it's 4:3->16:9 scaling...
My original RP91 conked out after about 8 months of use. It wouldn't read CDs, just DVDs...weird. I had a buddy at Tweeter (it pays to buy from a B&M store!) replace it for me for free. My current one has V250 software and worked fine until I replaced it with an XP50.
