Thanks for the link! It turns out the VSA-AX10i is the European version of the 49TXi. I don't know what the model number will be for the European version of 59TXi (perhaps AX11i?) You'll notice, for example, that on the bottom of page 8 of that brochure, there is a review from 2002 of this...
There are two i.Link connections in the 49TXi. The MCACC in the 49TXi is a 9-band MCACC. However, you are correct that the X-Band feature is being touted as new. I did not see the part about the German speaker connectors (are they different from the current ones in the 49TXi?) or the 10kg...
See the September 5th Pioneer press releases. (I can't post a link because I don't post enough messages!) Frankly, I was disappointed with this press release. It seems that key new features are Dolby Pro Logic IIx, USB input, better MCACC, MCACC output to a PC, and a new remote control. The...
Just to followup on my previous post: Pioneer accepted my serial number as-is (on their new label, they list my old serial number) and upgraded my unit in about two weeks. The new unit is working great, and iLink is definitely worth it for me.
Thanks for the cheerful thoughts. My serial number did have a black and white bar code on it. But in any case, I think the unit is out of warranty now ....
I just sent my unit in for upgrade. When I called up their 49tx hotline to request an ARA number and receive an invoice, they asked me for a serial number. I read the serial number (a six-digit number) to them and they claimed the serial number should be a four letter code followed by a six...
I found nice TOS optical cables at Target for $10. It's an optical line, so as long as basic connectivity is maintained, there is no point in spending money on an expensive cable.
I want to listen to both SACD and DVD-Audio on my 49tx. One possibility would be to buy the new Pioneer 47A, but I've read negative reviews about that player.
What I'd like to do is to buy a SACD player and a DVD-Audio player, and then install a switch (preferably, a remote controlled switch)...
I have a 49tx. I must say I'm very attracted by the idea of being surrounded by sound -- a la 7.1 systems.
I think the 49tx is outstanding for home theater, but I have not yet formed an opinion regarding music listening.
Why is it important to change the brightness/contrast level in the RP56 (there is a blackness level control.) Shouldn't that really be handled at your monitor?
What does the cinema mode on a Panasonic RP56 do? The manual claims it "mellows" the picture and sharpens dark detail. I don't understand what this means. In particular, does it have anything to do with DCDi?
