I looked at the TT one for the Intel Chipset. Looks nice, but will that work on my VIA Apollo KT400+VT8235 chipset also? Does anyone have experience with these? Thanks. -Svence
I am looking to replace the little fan (which amazingly makes the most noise) on the motherboard I have, Aopen ak77-8xn. What can I do to replace it and keep the noise down? Will a heatsink due? Also anyone tried a replacement fan for the Geforce4 ti4200's, thermaltake makes one that is 39db...
How is the Audio Ripping speed on those Pioneer drives. I am also looking for a new DVD drive but will also be using it for copying cd's. Thanks. -svence
I hear alot about the Pioneer 106 and 116 (Think those are the right model numbers). You can set them to be at 1x for DVD watching, it keeps them almost silent. Aslo check out the toshiba 1612 and 1712. -Svence
Finally..... Figured it out. Was able to slip in a Quick Format through windows before it crashed and all is fine now. I guess windows just wanted to format it itself. Thanks for all the quick responses guys. -Svence
Doug- I have the WD drive (with XP and everything else) as the master and the Maxtor as the slave. The power supply is 350 watts which should be enough but just incase I ran the computer with just the two HD's no CD-ROMs hooked up and still crashed. Rob- Checked all the drive connections...
I just got a new maxtor 60gb drive as my second HD in my computer, but windows doesn't like it. I have Fdisked it and the bios and windows both find the drive. But as soon as the little new hardware icon in the bottom right (winXP) comes up it goes to the good old blue screen of death with...
Thanks alot Kyle. I got it figured out. In the bios I was able to have it standby to the RAM instead of the Hard drive like it was before. Now the entire computer shuts off. Nice and quiet. Thanks. -Svence
When your computer goes to standby what fans go off if any? Or is it just the hard drive spins down? Does the cpu fan go off or any other fans hooked into the motherboard? I would love to leave my computer on all the time but the fan on my MSI G$ ti4200 is like a damn jet engine and if I could...
MX700.....it is by far the best mouse I have ever used. Absolutely no lag like other wireless mice. And having charger is awesome, you never have to worry about getting new batteries. It is definetly worth every penny you spend on it. -Svence
One last question...I promise. (I have a feeling it is one of those long debates though) What is the difference between DTS and DD5.1? I am guessing it has been discussed before but I couldn't find any direct threads so if someone has a link or any info that would be awesome. Thanks. -Svence
Kinda off topic but just a question for you guys. Are there any soundcards that decode DTS or do all of them just pass it on through SPDIF to a receiver? -Svence
Scott- I double checked and it does have both in and out for svideo and composite (VIVO its called i think). Francois- I tried it and it doesn't support Nvidia unfortunitly. So any other suggestions? I am dieing to hook up my xbox through the svideo, I have an external VGA box now that...
I have a similar question. My new video card (geforce4 ti4200) has an Svideo in. Is there a program I can get so i can stream my xbox input full screen through that. The software with the card only lets me preview stuff, its for making film strips. Svence
Probably a Stupid Question....but with max read/write speeds on most hard drives at 100MB/s...how much does it matter if your external crap can run at 480 or even 800 MB/s? Won't the bottleneck be in the PC? Or am I missing something? -Svence
I got a refurbished Dell P991 (Sony inside) for like 260 shipped from Ebay. I usually wouldn't go refurbished but it has a 3 year warrenty so I can't really complain. Heres the link to the place I got it from (he also sells on ebay under monitormon)

For all of you out there that use some sort of IR Remote Control what software do you use to control it? I have been using creatives Remote Central but can't get it to work with winDVD for some reason, so I am looking for some other suggestions. Remote selector looked promising but for...
I changed it to DMA and got it up to 9x...but still no 13x like before I reinstalled windows. It doesn't seem like it really is spinning up that fast. Anything else I can do? Svence
I have an Asus 52x cd-rom that won't rip audio over 6x. It used to work fine before I reinstalled windows (would rip at like 14x or something) now after a fresh install it won't rip over 6x. Any suggestions? Where did all my speed go? -Svence
The psu is relatively quiet, I can't really hear it over the terrible fan on the MSI GeForce4 (great card, but loud). It is powered by a 350W PowerUp psu. -Svence
Just built a new computer for just over 700 bucks and I love it... Heres the break down... AMD XP2000 $100 (cheaper now) Aopen AK77-8xn MB $87 MSI GeForce4 Ti4200 $145 Audigy Plat $136 Enermax Case Modded $78 40 gig max $54 (Staples $30 of $100 + $20 Rebate) Micron 256MEG $77 Asus 52x...
If you just plan on testing mostly, rather then watching 5.1 on your system I would go with the Z-640's. They sound good enough for what you will need. The only thing they don't have is a remote, which I have one from the Audigy Platinum (whether you go Audigy 1 or 2 I would spend the extra cash...
The new Logitech ones that Eric is talking about our out and they are sweet, but they want like 300 bucks for them. I second the Z-640's. I have them and like them alot. If you have a smaller setup they are great. They won't fill a larger room like the Klispch or the new Logitechs (I think the...
Is there any utility that I can get that will keep the RPM's down on my dvd player. It seems to always spin at top speed when I know it doesn't need to be going that fast to just be watching a movie. Any suggestions to help me get rid of that awful noise? Svence
