David,
I have a HDTV 16:9 front projection system and I have HDTV cable. The HDTV is limited to one channel (HBO) right now but should grow soon.
My system stretches the image to full screen 16:9 while viewing regular digital cable and shows the widescreen and full screen on the HDTV channel...
Louis,
You might want to look at the Front Projection systems.
I use a Sanyo PLV-60HT and you can have a flat wall mounted screen and mount the unit to the ceiling. This gives you a great picture and takes up little space. The PLV-60HT is: HDTV compatible (1080i, 1035i, 720p, 575p, 575i...
Hi Matt,
I bought them in December and I can't find the records but I don't remember it being excessive. They have the 800 number for information or to order.
FYI: You can see the ones we ordered on the bottom of the page here:

They are...
I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for but check this site out.

I bought 3 frames from them and they were inexpensive but good.
Andrew, I use the Sanyo PLV-60HT. It is a great projector for about $4300. See my page for more info:

HDTV Overview High-definition television (HDTV) offers advantages today while providing incredible potential for the future. Although it won't reach its full potential for some time there are many reasons why you should consider being HDTV-ready when you make your next viewing entertainment...
Peter,
I believe that you are correct about the reason why it works. It is isolating the sound waves (vibration) to the 1st surface. When we had the recording studio with double doors it also had sound absorbing material attached to the door and weatherstrip. It worked very well but it was...
Peter,
Dead air space has always made the best sound isolation. That is why recording studios float their walls. They build a room within a room. Did you ever go from standard windows to thermapane. The sound level of the outside is significantly reduced because of the dead air space.
Rick, You should take a look at front projection as well. With the room size that you have, it would be great.
Take a look at this small custom room: http://www.newtechnologyhome.com/features/hdtv1.htm
I had a recording studio one time where I had hung two doors. Each of course opened in opposite directions and I added weatherstrip to both doors. The dead air space in between make a great sound insulator.
I changed the rears from stands to ceiling mounts. They face each other but tilt down toward the listening area. The sound is significantly better this way for the room. Raising them up in general makes it easier to hear both channels clearly and gives it more depth, in my case.
Felix
I also use the PLV-60 in a small custom room.

We will only go to the theater for movies we just can't wait for. Your custom mount looks good.
Speaking of original, Has anyone ever seen the real original Superman from 1950 and 1952. It stared Kirk Alyn as superman and Clark Kent (of course). Very primative but entertaining. Butch from the little rascals (Tommy Bond) played Jimmy Olsen. There are 15 adventures to each serial.
The PLV-60 has a better angle to reduce keystone if you use the mounting bracket and hang it upside down but the shelf worked for me. It is in the lower level of our home and the ceiling is fairly low. With the slight adjustment I did not notice a change in quality. The manual gives the throw...
Listen to see if you hear the fan change speeds. I have a Sanyo PLV-60 and it is very quiet. There might be something wrong with the unit. I mounted mine on a ceiling shelf and from there it is very low compared to even the lowest movie sound.
Ricardo,
Some HDTV ready units do a good job of displaying 4:3 programming on 16:9. I use a Sanyo PLV-60 projector and it does a really good job. You don't really notice the stretching.
Dan, The Sanyo is 1080i and 720p and more. I run my DVD in input (3) component. My digital cable is in input (2) S-video and I'm waiting for my HDTV cable receiver which will go into either component input (1) or RGB (its both). See my site for a closeup of the video input panel...
Patrick is correct. After the unreleased pilot, they re-shot all the scenes that had Martha Kent with Annette.
In the unreleased pilot, they also used Samual Barber's "Adasio for Strings" as well as Alan Silvestri's score from "Contact" for the soundtrack.
