I'm with Eric, I have rope lighting behind my crown molding and around my riser and sconces on the walls. I dim both and they give off plenty of light for game watching. My can lights stay off except for cleaning and the rope/sconce lights get dimmed off for movies. Look for X10 remote dimmers...
I agree with Charles; each movie that I like, I like on different merits. In one movie it might be the story that drew me in, the next the scenery, the next the plot..interesting characters, witty dialogue, 'moving music'. For me it takes only one good reason to like a movie. And as long as I am...
Tomas, my room is 19.5 X15.5 and I have easy seating for 8. PLus I have a 123" diagonal 16x9 screen. You should have no trouble with what you are planning. My pics are in my signature link below. I only have couches for 6 but more than enough room for 2 extra chairs.
Well, to really answer the question we need to know what you plan on doing with the windows. Do you still want to be able to use them, or do you just want to block all light coming form them in a semi permanent manner. If you still want to use them, I think you'll have to go buy some blackout...
John, Yes, all work including design was done myself. It's quite a piece of work if I do say so myself. I'm quite proud of it and would love to show it off to you if you're interested. I'm home on vaction until next thurs. so any time between now and then you can come by and check it out.
Hey John, yes the clay shifting so much is what precludes a basement. I have seen one basement while in my home search, it was over in Little Elm and I almost snatched it up. For my 2 cents I would say keeping the two rooms separate but near is more ideal. What you will be settling for is two...
Thanks Ricardo, no Dennis did not design my theater. I did all the work myself. Of course I used alot of other peoples pictures as inspiration for my own so his influence might have been in there somewhere. I like to think of it as my interpretation of many others ideas:emoji_thumbsup:
Mine is on the second floor with an opening to the stairs only blocked with velvet curtains. The whole house gets to hear what the theater is playing and the garage(which is directly under the subs) sounds like it is about to fall apart during the intense scenes. Anything can be sufficiently...
First, buy stock in home depot. Second, tell your friends you wont be able to see them for two weeks as you have lots of research to do. Third, spend as much time as you can reading all the posts in the construction section. And don't skimp, you will learn a lot about what to do, and more...
After finishing the room I decided to take some screen shots and I uploaded them to my photo album. Check them out in my sig. The projector is a Marantz VP12s2.
Never a pain Parker when I get to share my passion with others who wont give me the raised eyebrow look when I say what I've done. X10 is simply awesome for the price point. I would love to be able to get specific scenes and stuff like what the GE and the lutron spacers can do, but I don't...
I'm not sure what brand or model they are. When I had the house built I had the builder wire in for 4 can lights at the front of the room and 4 sconces on the side walls. He was going to charge me $125 for each light and I knew they were not that much so I told him to just wire them. The general...
Yes, the projector is awesome.:emoji_thumbsup: It's my favorite piece of equiptment. I drool anytime HD hockey or baseball comes on. And watching movies, I feel like I'm seeing it exactly as the director intended. No extra brightness or artifacts or anything. "If you have the means, I highly...
Definately, :) Our kitchen/breakfast area ia set in a 50's style diner theme and it borders the family room you see there. My wife wnated to continue the time warp with a 60's/70's themed game room. We used the game twister as inspiration for the colors and a lava lamp for the shapes on the...
Is it working yet Pam? Bob, yes I do have HD via DirecTV HD package and my Marantz Vp12s2. HD is awesome in there. Been missing my HD hockey though, can't wait for next season to start again.
Ok, I added 1200 watts of light to the room for picture day. I deleted all the old pics and added the brighter ones. I've also added some pics of my equiptment rack and the carpet for the riser. My eq. rack is hiding in a niche at the front left of the room behind the screen. Here is the new...
Thanks Eric. Parker, I'm going to try and take some pics with my 500watt light shining in the room as well to see if that helps. I was doing it earlier but the battery died.
I'll tell you my fan experience. My room is 20' long and was wired and reinforced for a fan by the builder dead center in the room, 10' or so. My projector is mounted at 15 feet or so. Originaly there was just a crappy light installed in the center of the room and I took that down when I...
That's the problem Parker, those pictures ARE with the lights on :frowning: . The top of the walls are black velvet and the bottom is burgundy velvet and they just eat any light coming their way. Brian, I have all CDM's up front as you can tell, the surrounds and rear surrounds are matching...
I put the finsing coat of touch up paint on the room today and made the offcial call...the room is done! The wife and I celebrated with a bottle of sparkling wine and a movie. 5 months worth of work and I am so proud of what I've done. Here is the link to the photo album. Most of the pics are...
