Well my only problem is that I had intended to insert an ICBM between my SACD player and the 950 if AFTER LISTENING it seemed necessary. The nondefeatable, fixed 80hz bass summing on the 950 negates that strategy. At this point I do not know if I would have needed it but it seemed like really...
So from my understanding here, if I wanted the flexibility of an ICBM between my SACD player and the 950 I would be wasting my money? The message did nothing to clear this question up for me.
Robert,
My comments are mostly based upon the various and varying information that has been released. Unfortunately, for the vast majority of us, that is all that is possible at this point in time. It was not aimed at you or anyone in particular. I wish my comments were based upon experience...
I would not plug any amp into an outlet, switched or unswitched on the back of a pre/pro or receiver. The current draw is most likely why that fuse blew.
Brian,
I use a Monster HTS-3000 and have used a 12V DC wallwart hooked to an x-10 module and also a 12V DC trigger receiver output to turn on the switched and switched/timed outlets on my HTS-3000. From reading the HTS-2500 manual on the web it appears that the HTS-2500 operates the same way...
Cables with directional markings indicate that only one end has a shield ground to act as a ground drain. I first noticed these type of cables in my car stereo days.
Hi Matt,
I am using the Leviton QuickPort products also. However I was leary of the s-video connector. Therefore I decided to use dual runs of RG-6 coax terminated with BNC connectors , four quickport BNC connectors and two BNC-to-Svid breakout cables. I felt better about keeping everything at...
The Brickwall units are non-sacrificial and work really well. They also license their technology to Adcom for their newer models (the ACE-315 and ACE-615, not the older ACE-515). You can check them out at Brickwall.
Check out BPT. This company, Balanced Power Technologies, makes a series of units as well as units custom tailored to your needs. I am using a dual 300VA unit on my small den system. They also include a nice little explanation of balanced power on their site. The EquiTech site also has some more...
No these are not speaker enclosures. They will be patch panels for connections coming into, between and out of the components. (So there will be speaker binding posts, RCA connectors, BNC connectors, telephone and ethernet connectors, etc. on the panel). For neatness and higher WAF I decided to...
I currently use the Sony NS500V. I think it sounds remarkably good when used for SACD playback, especially considering its price. The bass management on it is not the greatest but it is certainly better than the first generation Sony players.
I am going to use Leviton QuickPort switch plates and snap-in connectors attached to a piece of 1/4" oak to make two 9" x 18" patch panels. One will be installed in the wall behind the television and one will be wall mounted behind the equipment racks. I will use standard electrical boxes...
4 t-nuts, 4 nuts and 4 hanger bolts (5/16" or 3/8") under $5.00 at Lowes, Home Depot, etc. I usually paint the hanger bolts and nuts with some black spray paint and a clear acrylic.
