Closest JBL speaker to the S26

If you're looking at new speakers, the L830's are similar, in that they use the same woofer size, material and even the tweeter is the same. However, it is a three way speaker, unlike the two way S26. So if you're looking at new ones, the L830 is probably the closest.

Confirm or aleve my plasma fears

Good luck with your purchase. I just ordered a Panny 50" S1 Plasma. Both Best Buys near me were out of stock (Scranton/Wilkes-Barre) so I'll be picking it up the weekend after Thanksgiving. I'm excited!! I was torn initially, because I might do some gaming on the screen and thought I might...

Try shooting him a PM. He might not check here too often and a PM might spark an email notification. I purchased from him earlier this year, so he is definitely real. :)

    Cheap component cable from Monoprice

Your explanations are compelling and seem very logical to me (I am not at all educated on this topic). However, I have a follow up Q: Why do all the suppliers seem to offer "Standard" and "Premium" and some times "Super Premium" options for cable? For example: Video Cable - RCA Component I am...

Axiom M60's/VP150 Center & Denon 1802 - too little power?

Thanks, guys. I didn't realize that was misinformation. I haven't read it in a while. I just remember reading it a few times when I first began my home theater journey.

Axiom M60's/VP150 Center & Denon 1802 - too little power?

I'm in the middle of purchasing a pair of used M60's and a VP150 center. I've wanted these speakers for a while and finally will be able to get them at a price I can afford. Right now I'm running JBL Studio series (S26II) all around powered by a Denon 1802. The Denon is rated at 80w/channel...

Are these still available? I read the opening post twice and don't see an official price listed. Is there an official asking price?

Can you recommend a home theater mag?

I thought I might get an answer like that, Robert. I guess I was looking for something to read while in my library (the bathroom). Sometimes reading online is like searching for the needle of information for which one may be looking. I grabbed the S&V free sub. and I'll continue my forum...

Can you recommend a home theater mag?

Heyya, fellas. I'd certainly run to my local B&N or Borders and check out mags, but the closest one is an hour away. I'm looking for a magazine that fits my wants. To summarize, I am nowhere near ready to build a dedicated theater, but I am in perfect position to learn (I have plenty of...

My Home Theater and Lobby are finally up and running!

I just realized this this is the John Stone Fitness John Stone. I remember stumbling across a post of yours YEARS ago, which eventually brought me to your fitness page when you were merely 200 days into your new healthy life. Fast forward about five years and here you are. Very nice...

Nintendo HTPC Project: Infrared, frontend software, remote questions...

According to Antec's customer service response the Basic receiver/remote kit only works with bundled software and will absolutely not work at the user account selection screen. Maybe I'm dreaming with my ideas. Perhaps there is no way of selecting one of two front end loading softwares from a...

Nintendo HTPC Project: Infrared, frontend software, remote questions...

I think I have the whole front button thing figured out. I'll somehow mod a gamepad or usb keyboard/keypad. I guess I'm still wondering about the IR interface. I'm wondering if IR interfacing with XP is pretty straight forward and if it will work at the user account selection screen.

Nintendo HTPC Project: Infrared, frontend software, remote questions...

Hey, guys. I've been wanting to do a project for a while and I keep getting new ideas in my head, especially as I find out what hardware and software are available. I will be doing a Nintendo HTPC project. I want to build a Mini-ITX system inside a Nintendo, leaving it appearing stock on the...

No audio on some channels with Panasonic Plasma... ?

Well, nevermind. :) It appears that all channels now have audio. I have no idea what the problem is/was, but I guess I cannot fix what's not broke.

About to hit the order button!!! Good Deal???

I might be a little late to this topic, but I have the Studio Center II (purchased about five years ago) and have four S-26II's all around for a 5.1 setup. When I run a calibration disc and play pink noise, the center sounds different from every other speaker. I wouldn't mind picking up...

No audio on some channels with Panasonic Plasma... ?

My parents have a Panasonic TH-42PD60U plasma television. The set is connected directly to cable via coax (local cable co.). They also have a DVR connected, but I believe that's connected via component cables and stereo audio cables. Just recently it began giving trouble. Some channels have...

    Annoying sound effects...

:D I also think songs are repeated too often. I listen to The Pulse often and I've heard Paula Cole's Where Have All the Cowboys Gone about five times in the first week I had the radio and about ten times total in a month. I really didn't think, with all the songs that make up "The 90's and...

    WTB: Wii...

Did you get one yet? I poked into Walmart this past Sunday and saw a guy with one in a bag. I was near the electronics checkout and overheard the lady answer a phone call and say, "Sorry, we just sold the last one.. Yeah, I should have kept the Wii and sold it myself." Anyway... still no...

Poor/Muffled audio with Starmate4 home dock kit.

Maybe I'm too critical. Maybe that's just how Satellite radio is supposed to sound. I tried the FM transmitter last night but I assume I need an fm antenna in my receiver, as I picked up nothing but static.

Poor/Muffled audio with Starmate4 home dock kit.

Heyya, fellas. I got Sirius for Christmas! Okay, now to the nitty gritty. It came with a car kit but I also got a home dock kit with the Starmate 4. I hooked everything up with the included 1/8" mini-jack to L/R RCA cable to my Denon 1802 receiver. When I first got it setup it first sounded...

Thanks, Mark. I'll try to find out to what type of file I'm capturing. -edit- I don't see too many settings I can play with. The capture options are very basic. I'll poke around the link you provided. Thanks again. -edit- Here's a capture from PowerDVD. Maybe I'm being...

Adobe Premier Elements/Sony DV/Firewire - secret to video capture?

I'm using the video capture in Premier Elements 3 via firewire. I'm not exactly sure how I converted this, as Premier has an option to directly burn a capture to DVD. It encoded it and burned it all in the program. All I had to do was select "export to DVD" and tweak some of the settings...

Adobe Premier Elements/Sony DV/Firewire - secret to video capture?

A friend of mine worked for one of the side campuses of Penn State. He was in charge of assembling a media lab. One of his purchases was a Sony HD Mini-DV cam. I think the general retail at the time was $5k. I held it once and just played with a few quick features (the one's I could figure out)...
