Alex, How did you finish your sub? I am prob. going to go with bedliner and it appears that you did too. Did you prime or paint it before applying your final finish? Thanks.
have you considered an IB setup? That would eliminate a sub in the room and from my understanding (no personal experience with them) they are very detailed, deep, many other good things... :-) Maybe something to consider if you can convince your s.o. to let you cut a hole in the ceiling or wall.
Hello. What do you guys use for grill cloth? I seen that partsexpress has grill cloth, but it is almost $7.00/yd. Is there a type of cheaper cloth that I could get at like Wal-mart or something? Also, what is the best way to attatch it to the wood that will make the grill frame, contact...
What commercial sub would a Shiva in the SBB4 enclosure be similar in quantity and quailty to? In particular, what models of the Paradigm, Logan, B&W, or Boston would be comparable? I ask these brands in particular b/c some local shops carry these. Thanks.
I am trully buffaloed on what to do about a sub. At first, I had my heart set on a Shiva. Then, I found the SAE 1204 which is very similar to the Shiva, only cheaper. Then, as I was showing my wife (who is kinda against the sub building project anyway) the SAE 1204 she seen the AV12 and thought...
Thanks John. That sure does suck about your computer. I figured something must be up because your company has a great reputation on the web. I'm sure I will have many more questions before it is all said and done.
I am pretty set on building a sub when I finally get some money together and I think I want to go with a Stryke SAE 1204. Does anybody have or know where I can find some good plans for a front firing, vented enclosure (tuned to the 18 - 20 Hz region)? I have looked on the Stryke website, but to...
I have a question regarding port material. Would the cardboard tubes that carpet comes on work for a port? Would it be too flimsy? A local store has a whole bunch of these all of the time and they said I could have all I wanted. They look to be about 3" - 4" in diameter. I want your...
Well, I don't have any experience with the new models that are on your list, but I do have experience with the Denon 1803. I really like the receiver. I have a Paradigm setup and it sounds excellent. The receiver is very solid, though it does have it's faults (in my opinion). They are (in no...
RE: Ohms... "POWER OUTPUT AND TOTAL HARMONIC DISTORTION: With 8 ohm loads, from 20 - 170 Hz; rated 120 watts, minimum RMS power, with no more than 0.8% total harmonic distortion from 250 milliwatts to rated output." - WM40 Manual pg. 11.
I modded my WM40 a while back. I put about 16 oz. (rough estimate) in the box. It did take a bit of the boominess out, but it still doesn't hit the low notes (mine drops off steeply after about 30 Hz). It is beneficial to do this mod, but don't expect it to turn your sub into an SVS or anything...
I did consider the laminate option, but I have never worked with it before so I was somewhat leery. (big risk taker huh? :-)) I read the installation instructions on the PE website and it looked pretty simple. Is it as easy as they make it look? Also, what order would you install everything...
Geno, The "Mo" does mean Missouri. I am near Springfield. Everyone, You are making it sound almost irresistable. The more posts I read, the more I want to upgrade. On another note, is there a simple and fairly cheap way to make MDF the same color of black as my speakers? (Paradigm...
I know in my head that it is worth it, but I haven't ever heard/felt "good bass" so I can not justify it 100%. I guess some things take a leap of faith, but it seems like an expensive leap. (I know, not real expensive comparativly speaking, but still expensive to me).
The title pretty much says my question. I currently have a stuffed Sony SA-WM40 and am looking at possibly upgrading. When I got the sub, i assured my wife that it would satisfy me, but recently I got a complete surround sound setup (upgraded from 2 Vega towers) and the bass is definatley the...
you could always drop a card/letter in the mail or call them to let them know your thinking of them. I think knowing somebody remembers them is an uplifting thing.
Mike, I was not suggesting that the pastor wasn't behind the project. I was simply stating that many times reluctant congregations (or committees, whatever applies to you) are swayed largely if a pastor or other leader is strongly behind a project. Sorry for any misunderstanding.
yeah, thats where it is good to have a good budget system, though even if they had x amount budgeted for technology or something like that, spending this much money would almost certainly require a vote. Getting the ok on this could be difficult, especially if there are many older people in the...
I went with Paradigm and got the CC-270 (acutally the 170 to begin with, but I ended up with the 270 at no extra cost....long story), Titans in front, Atoms in the rear, and 2 omnimounts all for $586 after tax. I already had a sub (which is now the weakest point of my system). I am using the...
RE: "Buy only as much machine as you need, if you find you need to upgrade in the future, do it then, there's really no way to "buy more now so you won't have to upgrade later." I agree with this to an extent, but remember, this isn't just his personal machine. I know some churches are...
