Hi Dan, Just curious how the horn loaded Tempest compares to the Tumult with passive radiators? I know the Tumult will have greater extension but how about transient response, differences in sound quality etc.?
I think the Aura shaker pro was the best $25 I spent in this hobby. I have four of them wired in series/parallel to the spare channel of a Crown K2 and they really compliment my system for watching movies. Now that I have experienced this level, I am getting ready to spring for a Buttkicker 2...
Chris I have a 6070 mated to a Parasound HCA 855 and a Crown K2 driving an Adire Tumult. The Parasound is rated at 125 watts into 4 ohms and 85 watts into 8 ohms and can typically be found used at Audiogon for around $400, I got mine there for $350. The Parasound drives 5 of my channels (Gr...
Hi Tom, actually the website belongs to my friend Bill. The PRs are 2500 grams so the performance numbers will be very similar to the Denali from Acoustic Visions. The Tumult is great in this set up it just seems undaunted by anything I send its way. On a side note if you're interested in...
Tom, I have a Tumult with a PR set up(pictures and construction at wmeckle.com) and a Crown K2 and I am very satisfied with the results. This is coming from a guy with an on going membership to the sub of the month club. After using the Stryke test CD and an Art 351 EQ to flatten response, it...
I had one with a Parasound HCA 855A and it did fine. The only problem I had was the excess noise when engaging the active EQ. It was probably a defective unit because it was quite audible even from across the room.
I have a Tumult as well, and it had all the impact I could hope for but was a little lacking in finesse until I got a 1/3 octave 31 band eq with a subsonic filter and the Stryke test cd. The difference is almost night and day as it greatly helps to tame the room and get rid of the midbass hump...
The 2400 has more surround program variations, a learning remote which does macros, and an RS 232 port which COULD enable it to be upgraded to DPLIIx down the line. It is listed as being software upgradable.
Roger, I know it's a bit early to determine for sure but will there likely be support for Dolby PLIIx with the new crop of receivers being introduced at Cedia (Yamaha 2400 comes to mind)? A lot of the receivers recently introduced or soon to be have an RS 232 port but only a handful will come...
Could this driver be used with the 2500 gram passive radiators available from stryke? Would there be a difference in sound between the ones you will be making and the strykes?
I know what could ease the pain for all of this wait. I have no doubt that this driver will live up to the expectations, so how about a deal for those of us patiently waiting. Those of us who have preordered could be given the preorder price for one additional driver when they begin shipping...
I was just wondering what the tone controls are on the MC1. Is it just bass and treble and can they be adjusted when using DD and DTS? I had a receiver that was THX certified and wouldn't allow adjustments of tone without bypassing THX.
Thanks for the thorough response Martice. I also have AV 1 pluses with a Melos tube preamp. For movies do you set the speakers to large and let the AV 1+ roll off at 60 hz or is the ICBM transparent enough that you don't hear any loss when it is inserted?
Martice, does the Klipsch DD 5.1 come with remote? Where did you get it from and how does the sound quality compare with your previous processor. Also I noticed you said that your Behringer tube EQ was unhooked, are you utilizing the EQs in the Klipsch?
