One day when arriving at the gym, I noticed a stack of 4x8x3/4" heavy rubber mats. They were replacing the floor in the gym. I asked what was going to happen to the old stuff, and they said first come first serve! I bagged 20 sheets, but it did cost me twenty bucks to bribe someone to help me...
Bob, not sure if this helps, but this is what I am doing. I am running about 8 extra pair of speakers in different areas of my house. The nice part about the a-bus contoller is that you run cat5 wire from the abus controller to each location you want speakers in. You only have to run speaker...
Hiya Seth, I was wondering that myself, then it dawned on me that if I was in the HT, I didn't care about the doorbell :) So I am not sure I am going to install anything like that..
IMHO it is, you after all are not actually trying to evacuate the air, the back of the rack is open, you just need to give the warm air some direction. The earlier mentioned rheostat idea is good too, that is more noise than most projectors :)
Keith, are you using axs series racks? (Do they roll out) and second, what surrounds the back of the racks? Are they in an enclosed space? Just curious Warren
You might want to post/look in HT Construction, that is where wiring is usually discussed. You can use some narrow wire channel if you want, it basically has adhesive on the back, you cut it to length, put the wire inside the channel and the channel folds shut over the wire and snaps into place...
That was a super cool theater for sure. I don't usually even like going to commercial cinemas! Not sure I can make it to L.A. too often, but I will subscribe and keep an eye too!:D :D
Yes indeed. I had a super time at all events, and surely appreciate the work put into putting it all together. Thanks Gregg Loewen for the lunch too. He has worked on my Mitsu 65"diamond, and the results were a bargain. Nice to meet all the L.A. folks. Hope to be able to sponser something at...
Andrew, according to the Def Tech website, the amp should be 20-600 amps. You should be ok. Don't be afraid to call Def Tech, they have always been helpful to me in the past and honest with the answers. I have looked at the 7000sc's myself, heard them at CES, but would like to hear them...
Being as you are going to lob off the connector from the power supply anyway, why not take a piece of cable about the same length as you will be using in the project, make up the cable out in the open air, and plug it in, and give it a short trial. If you have no trouble with the mock up...
William, I am ordering the caulk from a distributor, I have never seen it at HD or Lowes. If you want the phone number to the sales rep, email me and I will fix you up. Mike, in my application, I am building a one story house, and not too concerned about the sound going up, in speaking with...
If you have enough head room, frame up another ceiling, and insulate it as much as you can before you drywall up the second ceiling. Do anything you can to "uncouple" the two ceilings. I presume your complaint is noise straight up from the basement. Owens Corning also makes acoustic caulk that...
John, you might also consider using plastic conduit runs to boxes where you plan to terminate your speaker runs, and the run to your projector. That way when they come out with some new type of interconnect for the projectors, and or if you decide to use some new top secret brew of...
For what its worth, while at CES 2003, I saw a high grade outlet for HT use at the Heatshrink.com booth. Gold plated contacts etc. They were asking $100.00 each for them. I don't see them listed on their website, but if you are interested, you might give them a call and ask about them, they...
For what it is worth, I found that Middle Atlantic makes special mounts for misc audio / video gear. They are called RSH custom rack mounts. They have an index of 6000 or so components that they already have the specs for, or you can custom order what you want. I have ordered an AXS43 rack...
Thanks for the information all. I did find the site, and downloaded the software, having a bit of trouble getting it to run though, so still working on it. Have to figure out what hardware I need to get my stuff to fit in there. Thanks again. Warren Holm
Does anyone have any experience with the Middle Atlantic AXS racks, they are the ones that roll out. I am planning a new home (with theater) and am considering using those racks. Just curious if there are any good/bad experiences among other members. Thanks in advance Warren Holm
Just to add my two cents worth on sneaking wire down the wall, it has all be said for the most part, but I would add that when you cut a hole in the drywall over the fire block to pull wire by it, I drill it with a 1 1/2" hole saw, right over the block. This makes a nice clean hole, and you can...
Hi Jonathan, I would suggest that you contact some local installing companies (at least three) and get quotes from them after explaining to them exactly what you want.
You will likely find a small local company, who has been in business for some time, and retains their own monitoring contracts...
