Finally found the Menu that allows DTS bitstream, sure enough it was set to off...all is well now. I thought that By selecting DTS on the DVD it would be sufficient. Thanks for yer help. Sonny

I Have set the receiver to both Auto and DTS, I have gone to the Audio Menu on the DVD and selected DTS I have gone to the DVD player audio options and selected DTS......SILENCE. WHat now? Sonny

Check out IKEA!!!! Don't hold it against the SWEDES that their whole country can be assembled and disassembled with an allen Key.:D My Wife and I were trying to find a nice component rack and they were big $$$ and IKEA has stuff for modern, spartan Big and small check it out...if you don't...

I am in Ottawa and I have priced out both the 1602 ($599.99) and the 1802 ($799.99). The dealer here is not willing to move much either but does not try to pass off these prices as a special or sale. Sonny

Thanks for your comments. I was not aware of rampant Marantz problems...it seemed a little odd to receive so many features for so little $$$. As far as I can see no one has any really negative comments with the DENON stuff. So I am leaning back in this direction. Sonny

I am currently checking out beginner level receivers and have come to an impasse. I was wondering what you think about the Marantz 5200 vs Denon 1802. They seem pretty evenly matched for options and input / outputs. The Marantz has 6.1 but it is an option I do not plan to use due to the size...

Again...great info..thanks for the posts. I really do like the fact that the 1602 offers Dolby Pro Logic II while most others only offer it on their units over $1000- (REMEMBER I am Canadian that only seem like alot to other Canadians ;) ) I think this is the avenue I will take. Sonny

Thanks for the info guys...I really do appreciate it. Johnny I am sort of wavering between the 1602 and the 1802. The 1802 has 80W per channel rather than 75 plus it seems to have a significant # of additional out/in puts. What kind of set up do you have? Do you find yourself wishing for one...

Thanks Andrew....that's what I thought. With the 5.1 will I notice a huge disparity due to the serious wattage difference between fronts and rears? I stresss that this is only temporary setup (3-6 months max). I appreciate the input! Sonny
