I have to second that suggestion for rope caulk, I just built a Dayton Titanic in a sealed box and the rope caulk worked like a charm.

For Cat5 this is usually like a pull string so you can strip off a large part of the insulation at once. I would take a guess and say that maybe it serves the same function? Making it easier to remove some of the insulation?

That flexy looks great. Do you mind posting the dimensions of it? I'm going to be building one shortly and that looks about perfect size.
