I am looking for a used 5 channel amp, preferably a Newcastle AM9080 to replace the one I have that lost a channel. I'm also open to a pair of mono blocks from Marantz or the like. I'm trying to stay in the $400-500 range. You can email me at hat707(nospam)@hotmail.com if you have something I...
I have 5 pure silver (not silver coated), 1 meter interconnects for sale. These cables were hand made for me by a gentleman named Phil Becker and he calls them Argentos. They use Canare connectors, are shielded, covered in black standard abrasion resistant weave, and heat-shrinked. Phil offers a...
What is the :star: proper:star: way to calibrate your sound? Do you set your preamp/receiver at a certain -db level then bring your speaker levels up to meet 75db or 85db or whatever you choose?
Or do you leave the mains set at 0 and bring the master volume up so that you get a 75db reading...
I just purchased a Neo from BB this weekend. I paid $200 for the thing and decided to try it out during the 30 day return period. The remote seems decent enough, it has a hard time picking up some of the commands from the AVP 9080 Newcastle Preamp...but after a few hundred read attempts I think...
Can be used as a stand-alone preamp, as it includes volume control. 2 digital inputs (1 coax, 1 fiber-optic), 1 set of 5 channel RCA outs, 1 pair of stereo inputs. I've never had any problems with this unit, fair cosmetic condition, a few scratches here and there. No problems with the display...
I'm buying James' samson amp to power my SVS sub, so I'm selling this MA500 that held those former duties. Excellent condition, no scratches, paint chips, dents etc... Used sparingly only when watching movies (the time to do so seems far and few between these days). Includes the manual but not...
Which one would you choose? I have a Newcastle AM-9080 amp so, removing the amplifier section from the equation, is the extra cost of the 5ES justified? What are main feature differences of the two?
Once again, I am humbled by the prudency of our members. I need some help here guys. I am trying to decide on what type of mid-level analog interconnects to buy. So far, I have included in my search Outlaw, IXOS, Heartland, and Rhino. I am looking to spend around $150 for (5) 1 meter+ analog...
I just bought a new component rack, so the (5) single .5 meter cables must go. These Silver Serpent interconnects are approximately 6 months old and in perfect condition. They look exactly like the picture on Bettercable's website. Asking $90 shipped.
Please email [email protected] if...
I would like to know how to properly ground a satellite system to help with ground loop hum. I tried installing a grounding connecter in-line in the coax and running a wire to a metal pipe in the attic but that didn't seem to help. Do I need to somehow ground the dish itself to something metal...
This amp is about 6 months old. The only reason I'm selling is I bought a Newcastle Amp to replace it. Comes with manual and original double box. I'll let it go for what I have in it. $400 plus shipping.
Email [email protected] if interested.

I was just wondering if anyone had experience with the 9080 five channel amp... How would you say it compares with mid-fi amps like parasound, rotel, NAD, etc???
I have a couple of pairs of bettercables silver serpents that are .5m in length (btw, I'm not sure who rests components on their amp where .5 meters would be a sufficient length). They came along with the amp I bought used. I am interested in buying longer interconnects maybe 1 meter or 2...
If I was to bi-amp my main speakers, where does the 2nd input from the 2nd channel go? Do you just use a "y" connector to run both interconnects to the receiver's L or R pre-out?
Thanks in advance!
There is a huge post over at AVS forum (of which I'm not a member) on the merrits of setting your speaker size to small even when you have a full range speaker. From what I gather, some of those posting have an electronic engineering background, the consensous is that a high quality sub such as...
The set is in good condition... some scratches on the cubes but nothing major. They sound as good as can be expected from Bose. ;) They sound better for HT than music. (The cubes are "cute" your wife will love them.)Black in color. It is the first series - bass module is unpowered with 3-6...
I'm sure this argument has been around since the begining of time but..... In the interest of someday being able to actually take advantage of Multi-channel sound (ie DVD-A & SACD), I am planning on my next speaker purchase consisting of full-range conventional speakers for my surrounds.
My...
First off, I would like to let everyone know how much I've enjoyed lurking in the shadows watching and learning.
I have a parasound 855A amp that I am looking to pair a pre amp/processor with. I want something reasonable in the say $500 dollar range (slightly used condition) to pair with the...
