I've tried stuffing the port and it still sounds bad. I came up with the same conclusion that the box is too small to be ported. I looked at the Dayton Quatro 12" driver as a replacement, just can't tell if it would work in the the box sealed (
All of the alignments with drivers and a ported box gave me a big spike/dip in the repsonse, I'm guessing because the box is too small to be ported. I really just want a solid sounding sub, ported or unported doesn't matter. It just seems a sealed box at this size is more appropriate.
I have an exsisting 12" powered sub with a 16"x16"x16" box and a 200w rms plate amp. The sub is boomy and has no low end extension. I need help finding a driver that would be appropriate in the box and would work with the 200w plate amp. The box has a 4" port (length unknown) and is front...
Thanks for the info. I was looking at the CV-51 until I saw the new CV-52. It appears they are pretty close to being the same, with the exception of the CV-52 being a much slimmer design and cheaper.
I'm looking to replace my old dvd player with the new Panasonic CV-52. I listen to music about 90% of the time, so my old Pansaonic RV-20 isn't cutting it since it won't play burned cd's. I was wondering if anyone else has the CV-52 changer, and what their thoughts on it were? Thanks.
I see your point. My thinking was that a 4ohm load would allow more power to flow than a 8ohm load. Even if the receiver was not putting out 100w at 8ohm, it might with only a 4ohm load. That was my thinking. By the way, what is a good THD rating for a receiver from say 20hz to 20Khz?
Thanks for the input.
Your probably right about most receivers being overated. If I power the SVS sub which is 4ohms,with a 100w at 8ohms channel, there will probably actually be over 100w RMS or so due to half the impedence. I agree that even 100w would be enough power for the SVS. I would...
Yes, the 6th channel is designated to power a passive sub. The receiver has a built in crossover. I can cut the sub off from 200hz, down to 50hz. You can adjust the power to the sub through the receiver. The settings are off, 1 through 25, with 25 being full power. It is the .1 channel in...
I just disovered this site about a week ago, and it has been very helpful. Reading the posts, it looks like everyone loves the SVS subs. I'm interested in getting one, but I need to know if it is possible to power the
25-31CS with my reciever. My reciever is 100w x 6ch RMS, with 5 channels...

I've been looking at the JBL speakers, but I need some input on which series to get. I'm looking at the N38 or ND310 of the Northridge series, and the S310 from the Studio series. Can anyone tell me the differences between the two, and if so, what preference one has? I plan on upgrading the...
