I am thinking about buying the 5640. Are you enjoying your unit? As for the thread, I think JimC_A is right. These light are "input channels indicators" and only light up if the source is encoded, in your case, in 6.1.
The european version is actually 65W!!!!! I sure would like to know why!? Anyway I auditioned it today and got a serious headache at -20db. 65W may not be much but it's more than I'll need. I really can´t find the H/K 125, and the others H/K models I can find are about 600$. As for the Pioneer...
Between these three models, wich one would you guys chose? -----Yamaha RX-V440----- - new model - 6.1, dts-es, DD-EX - EISA award - High current amplification - 65W x 6 -----Harman/Kardon AVR 125----- - very hard to find (here in Portugal) - 192KHz/24 bits DAC - 45W x 5 (I am aware...
I'll be using 4 Sony SS-MF450H, a Sony SA-WM40 sub, and 2 other front and rear speakers I still have not chosen. One more thing I forgot to mention: I live in Portugal and the prices here are aprox. 200$ more, in comparison to most american prices. One thing I don't understand is why this...
I'm almost sure i´ll go with the Yamaha RX-V440 (HTR-5640). It has all the connections and features I need and I will be using it only for HT. The price is already has much as I can go. Still I come to this great forum (it has helped me and my friends several times!) and humbly ask if I should...
I have an old receiver with a RCA sub out but I don't know if it is intended to be connected to an active or a passive sub. Is there a way I can figure it out, with a multimeter maybe? What would happen if I connected an active subwoofer to an output made for a passive sub? Thanks.
I just ordered a Sony SA-WM40 and it will probably get here next wednesday. I intend to test it with Star Wars - Episode II, Tomb Raider, Monster's Inc and Saving Private Ryan, as well has several music CD's as soon as I get it out of the box, with no mods. I'll let you know how it performed.
I already ordered the Sony subwoofer, it will be here next wednesday. Thanks anyway but unfortunatly prices here in Portugal are not like in the US. For instance, I'm getting the Sony sub for 230$, and that's the cheapest it will get here. Nevertheless the best price quality relation remains...
Thanks for the replies. I really can't stretch my budget so I'm going for the Sony. Only a few hours left until I go out and buy it. I'll let you know what I think of it when it arrives in a week or so.
Sony SA-WM40 or Yamaha YST-SW205? My living room is about 10*10 feet and I intend to use the sub to HT only. Either way I'm going to buy a sub next monday. :)
Thanks.
Thanks for the reply but here in Portugal the Sony sub costs 300$. Nevertheless I am now more aware of prices and am in doubt between these four: Eltax Atomic A8 (200$) Mordaunt-Short MS 308 (274$) Sony SA-WM20 (177.90$) Yamaha YST-SW 105 (222$) What should I do?
Eltax Atomic A8 (200$) Mordaunt-Short MS 308 (274$) Sony SA-WM20 (177.90$) Yamaha YST-SW 105 (222$) These are the prices I get here in Portugal. Wich one should I go for? Thanks.
I recently purchased a DVD player and a 5.1 speaker set. The player has a built in decoder and has 6 RCA outputs. The set is composed of an amplified main unit that also works as a subwoofer, and 5 satellite speakers that connect to it. It has several stereo inputs (CD, TUNER, TV, AUX), plus a...
I'm thinking on buying a TX-DS595. How old is this model? Has anyone heard of the possobility of new models comming out? I'm asking this beacause it appears that Yamaha is about to launch some new models.
What is the best receiver for putting up a PC Home Theater and an ultimate gaming system for 500-600$ ?
I thought of these two models:
- Denon AVR-1802
- Onkyo TX-DS595
First of all I would like to thank and congratulate all of you who keep this forum up and going, and contributed to significantly narrow down my choice for a new A/V receiver.
I will be using my system:
- 30% for listening to mp3's from my PC (soundcard's SPDIF or analog out)
- 20% for...
