I basically watch one per week just like the series, though I watched a few the first week, and Mondays I have no real shows so I watched missing in action last night. It was ok, and at the end I was thinking the same thing, in fact I thought the guy was shot in the foot. I think there was alot...
I dont post much around here, but I just got the set as it was one of my favs as a kid, and no doubt there is some synching issues. Also to point out, every series has some bad episodes, The Ugliest Dog in Hawaii episode being one. My wife said to me 45 minutes into the movie "what is this...
Saw it last night! I am a horse racing aficianodo so I was very critical from the movie buff and the race enthusiast. Film did really well at delivering the feel good story it was looking for. It came up a bit short on historical accuracy but thats a seperate subject. Come Acadamy...
I got this disk last week, forgot about it actualy. I thought some of the songs where pretty awsome sounding on my system. I really liked the sound mix of Big Phat Band. Also thought the Swan Lake song sounded solid as well.
Justin, When I got to the end of the 5.1 mix the one thing that came to my mind was how long for the release of The Wall. Though this disk can be listened to in 5.1 dvd video, I doubt it would reach the levels of this release(i have not watched it as of yet). WYWH would also be epic! I have a...
I notice some peope underwhelmed by the stereo sacd on this disk but wasn't the main effort of the producers to make the best possible 5.1 mix, so less time and effort would have been spent on the stero track? So is this really a surprise?
Ok, have now listened to all three tracks, cd, 2 channel and 5.1 sacd. IMO this disk shines in the 5.1 format much more so than the two channel. While the 2 ch stereo sacd is still better than the hybrid redbook, it does not overwelm you with the fidelity like the 5.1 mix does. In my opinion the...
I dont post in here alot, and hesitate to jump in on threads like this cause with a new release of a great epic album like this almost all reviews are positive so you often have to take it with a grain of salt. I am no audiophile and bought this album for the 5.1 experience. I just listened to...
Multi Channel is the only reason I am into Hi Res, its not worth it to replace all my redbook CD's to buy sacd or dvd a two channel. The album for me was DVD-A hotel california
I would say price factors in as well, new release dvd for 15 bucks or 18 for two tickets to a movie. Studios can see the light. They sure dont want people who do not go see it at the theater and are waiting to forget the film, and 9 months or a year can do that.
Johnny I think there is already two mind sets regardless of the length. Personaly I am a wait until the DVD is out type unless I am really excited to see a film(a three year old also adds to that). If its 4 months or 6 months I dont think that is going to make a difference to the larger films...
I notice a logical progression with films, usualy a two month or so main box run, then it hits the dollar theaters for a month and then shorty after its out on video. I bet 20-25 weeks will be the norm now that studios understand that the dvd is as big as the initial film release and plan...
I just did some filtering with my dvd profiler and it is definately a studio thing. It appears many of these newest releases are DTS. This is encouraging indeed. I guess on the columbia movies its best to hold off and wait for a superbit. I cant wait to hear the DTS track for Das Boot, time...
It was just my general perception, I dont think Sum of All Fears and XXX conatined DTS, but Minority Report and Blade 2 did, so did Bourne Identity, so I guess its hit or miss. I was mostly concerned with my Jaws, Saving Private Ryna and Apollo 13 disks. Sounds good.
I know DTS is a realatively popular format but is it possible that say 5 years from now DTS is not around and new stereo receivers will not be backwards compatable? I have several disks that are DTS only, including road to perdition. Would it be wise to only purchase dolby digital disks I...
Lee, This was my take on the same subject two days ago, My take on Hot Rocks I have said many times on this forum that I am the average joe when it comes to audiophiles, while I listen to SACD and DVD Audio it is not the be all end all. My first impression about these disks is how...
My take on Hot Rocks I have said many times on this forum that I am the average joe when it comes to audiophiles, while I listen to SACD and DVD Audio it is not the be all end all. My first impression about these disks is how hard it was to know if I was even getting a SACD. The Best Buy...
John, I completely agree with you sentiments. Multi channel is the only way that hi rez will push its way into mainstream. Most people have a HTB type set up. I know that is hard to believe but 99% of the world would consider hi end audio systems a waste. Take the average setup and hi res...
I would say the Divas are on Par with reference series from Paradigm, DT, Klipsch and some others. The big diference is the cost. My same system with Klipsch was $3300, it was $2200 with the Divas. Saying they are much better than the speakers in its own class is not accurate IMO. But to save...
