Noticed that sound was only active in the left and right front speakers. Checked the sound settings on Netflix and English [Original] was selected. Changed to the only other English option English [Original] (Atmos) and now it sounds fine. Strange that there is no English 5.1 setting as that is...
I know that we have another thread for 80 days, but I wanted to start another to focus on David Strohmaier and his possible future work on digital restorations that could include 80 Days. We all know Grimm was quite a success as a restoration as well as a terrific seller on Blu-ray for the...
In a few months it will be 20 years since the release of the DVD. Warner Brothers purchased a 65mm scanner I think it was this year maybe last year? So, some time in the future they should be scanning a 65mm negative and let's hope it will be Around the World in 80 Days!

OK. Sorry if this might be off-topic but, I'm watching The Chosen One on Netflix and the image is 1.33. First time I have seen a TV show on Netflix that's not 1.77 or 2.0.
I was having a problem with the sound when watching HBOMAX through the PS4. For all movies on HBOMAX I lose the sound at times or only parts are heard. I'm using a PS4 for the HBOMAX app but, all other apps (Disney +, NETFLIX, Prime Video, etc.) have no issues with the sound on the PS4. I just...
So the studios spent a million or two to scan and transfer each of the following titles to Blu-ray?
1959 - Ben-Hur
1962 - Mutiny on the Bounty
1963 - It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World
1965 - The Greatest Story Ever Told
1965 - Battle of the Bulge
1966 - Khartoum
2015 - The Hateful 8
I couldn't find any threads for this title. I recorded from TCMHD and it looks and sounds fantastic. The only problem is dialog and effects that should be coming out of the left channel are in the right channel and vice versa . I doubt the Blu-ray has this problem.
The Paramount Theatre in Syracuse NY promoted Gentlemen Prefer Blondes as having Stereophonic sound. I wonder if this was just ballyhoo or some stereo prints were sent out to theatres that requested it.
Anyone watching the Yankees exhibition games on YES? I getting a message that they are blocked on DIRECTV. I called them and they said it came for YES to block. Makes no sense.
I recorded Drum Beat on TCM yesterday, Looks like a newer transfer as it doesn't have the black bars on the side. I know it was released on DVD many years ago. Might be the same or better as I don't have the DVD to compare it to. The sound is very good with lots of separation and directional dialog.
Any guess what the title might be?
VS said for November release "including our first ever 3D Blu-ray (don’t worry, a flat version will be included as well), of a never-on-disc early 80s horror rarity"
Should be one of the following (release date shown):
ROTTWEILER aka DOGS OF HELL - March...

Just signed up for Vudu for free. Saw that Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation in 3D was on sale for only $9.99. You get a 30% discount on your first purchase so only $6.99 for me. Not available on Blu-ray in 3-D (other than the bootleg on eBay, which is just a copy from Vudu). See link below...
Recorded It on FXMHD a few nights ago. It was the fifth film in 70mm Todd-AO. Looked pretty good except for the color breathing and shifting in some scenes. The opening titles were 2.2 but then it was cropped to 1.77 until the end titles that are 2.2. Strange they would do that when the 2007 DVD...
Recorded this on May 8 and finally watched it today. Romantic melodrama that I thought had a strange AR of 1.66 (should have been 1.75) and at times had directional dialog and music. Strange as this should of had mono sound but maybe someone at TCM or whoever recorded the transfer for them...
Recorded this a while ago and watched last night. Looks like an old transfer as there are black bars on the sides. What's unusual is that not only is the dialog directional but the singing too. Even large groups of singers are sometimes only in the right or left channel.
