I used to think the whole “pictures falling off the wall” and related things people have been saying were just exaggerations. They aren’t, those SVS can damage your house.
:)
So tonight was my first experience with SVS, I set up a home theater for a friend and recommended that he get a 20-39 CS+ and Samson 1000 combo. Well he did and tonight I went over to calibrate the whole system with Avia and run some 1/6 octave tests to see if he needs a BFD.
Anyway...
Sonnie,
The new software does execute under all versions of windows, and I can confirm that the MIDI communication works under 2000, but I have not been successful in getting it to work under XP.
Hey guys, back awhile ago I was talking with Behringer about using the MIDI software in 2000/xp and they sent me a new version of the software with does run under XP, however I still couldn’t get it to talk to the BFD, but if the charting is all you need, it works.
I have it on my server at...
This sounds like the classic “ticking” problem that many 797 owners, including me, have experienced!
You should just call Onkyo USA directly. They will fix or replace your unit in a week or less and pay for shipping in both directions.
If you are referring to the MIDI communication software, I have a newer version that is not posted on the Behringer website, I can email it to you if this is what you need.
I just wanted to back up Mikes statement, the RS meter must be ON to activate it’s internal mic preamp and send a signal out.
I have the digital meter and I use the 80dB range, then tweak the levels in the mixers to get –4 or so in the “level” windows.
Lest us know how it goes.
Ranga,
The problem may be that your computer does not have a full duplex sound card?
The reason the mic input is not used is that it is generally a mono input, thus no feedback loop for sound card correction can be used.
Using the recording control of the mixer panel, you should have line...
Bob,
Since you have two subwoofers, how are they positioned in the room? Are they both in the same place?
Perhaps you should try testing the response of each sub independently, and then use both channels of the BFD to equalize each sub independently.
Bob,
The LED on the in/out button will flash when you press and hold it momentarily, this indicates full bypass mode. The two dashes in the digits display will not flash.
As far as setting all filters in all programs to OFF, I think it is unnecessary but you can do it if you wish...
Great! It’s nice to see I made something work right for a change. :)
As for the two subs, I guess I’ll try to get them both in the same corner, I just measured and it looks like I have enough room. I was more concerned about delays then cancellation but now it makes sense.
My room seems...
These are the results of my first attempt at using the BFD; I would appreciate any feedback since I am new to this unit. My sub is a Cambridge Soundworks P1000.
I cannot believe how much better it blends with my main speakers now, just about all the boom is gone.
Another question, I would...
Richard,
I have been wrestling with getting the BFD to talk to my computer for the past few days with no luck, maybe we can help each other.
First of all, I have a new version (2.0) of the software that Behringer tech support sent me, supposedly it fixes several problems under Win NT/2000...
Dave,
I have my system in a 14' x 19' room
Onkyo 797
Panasonic RP-56
Sony KP-53HS30
Monster HTS3500
I still have a bunch of things to try (I love to tweak, as we all do ;-)
I have the MC300’s wall mounted but I can feel/hear what I think is too much vibration being transmitted to...
I agree, I have 3 MC300's across the front, S300's in the back and a 4th MC300 for rear center.
They are awesome sounding speakers; everyone who hears them can’t believe they are made by CSW.
I also have a pair of P1000 subs up front. They might not move the air like SVS can, but they do a...

Onkyo does know about this problem, it seems to be affecting more people every day :frowning:
Give them a call and they will arrange to fix your unit.
Yes, I was participating in the thread about the ticking in the Home Theater Spot forum, I was just thinking since this may be a larger venue, if more people were affected.
It seems to happen after 2 or 3 months of service. My unit is going back to Onkyo tomorrow.
Matt
I did a search on this but didn’t find any previous threads.
Anyone have a 797 with the dreaded ticking problem?
The problem occurs in any mode except “direct”. I hear ticking noise out of the front right speaker that varies with volume.
I understand this is a known problem with the 797 I...
I just saw the same model last night at Circuit City, the salesman said they just got it in a few weeks ago. It's phenomenal, probably the best picture I have ever seen on a projection TV.
Apparently there is the 52" and the D61130 which is a 61" version of the same thing.
I would love to...
