Just bought some cables from Radio Shack, I found a 3 ft component cable for $10.99 (15-1507C). I'm going to use this instead of the 12 ft cables (15-1509). I also picked up the cable for the subwoofer (15-1520). They had some other 6 ft component cable (15-1563?) with different colors and...

whats the difference really from a kenwood vr-507 to a vr-509? both same price..

From Crutchfield: "An output that lets you connect the receiver to any device with a standard optical digital input, such as a MiniDisc or CD Recorder. Optical digital connections require a special type of fiber optic cable, known as Toslink. " Hope that helps.

whats the difference really from a kenwood vr-507 to a vr-509? both same price..

509 has a learning remote with macros and LCD screen, component inputs/output. The 509 also has another digital port (I believe its the monitor out). Take a look at crutchfield to see the differences: VR-507 VR-509

    Home Theater Setup

Matt, In case of the Panasonic DVD that I am buying, you need a digital Optical cable to go between the DVD and the receiver so you can take full advantage of DD/DTS sound on the DVD. The cable is also known by Toslink. An example of this cable is: Acoustic Research Cable

Brian, Do you have any parts numbers for Radio Shack? Also, for the VCR you said to use three cables, are these cables going to transmit the signal to the receiver and then from the receiver to the VCR? I still want to use it to record shows and such. Thanks. Damian
